Rescued a stray dog on Sunday with the Runner, he hopped right in the back and rode like he owned it. We took him to the vet, got him checked out, then over to Lost Angels for foster and placement. I would have kept him, but I'm gone too much for work and the wife can't handle another pet. He'll get adopted no problem.

Installed new Denso OEM plugs with NGK wires and a new PCV valve with a fresh grommet yesterday.

Pioneer head unit and Rockford Fosgate speakers just showed up. Time to get busy.

Oh yea, the Toytec BOSS 3" lift was crammed in my mailbox, too :boink:

first road trip in the 4Runner. Went to Vegas, Laughlin and part of Arizona. She did great. Only notable problems was suspension. Will have new LBJs, sway bar bushings and new suspension on soon so can't wait until next road trip!

Fixed a P0441

CEL came on for a P0441 a week or so ago. Finally got around to looking at it.

Quick visual inspection of vacuum lines did not show any obvious culprit, and the gas cap was holding pressure several hours after parking. So... not a vac leak.

Checked the purge solenoid. Bingo! Flushed the valve seat with WD-40 and manually cycled it several times. All better. Easiest P0441 ever. Buttoned up in less than 15 minutes.

Pioneer Stereo Installed

I installed my Pioneer DEH-X6700BT head unit without any major issues.

Crutchfield didn't send the harness adapters for the front door speakers, so those will have to wait until this weekend. I have to say, though, that the sound improvement to the factory speakers is FAR more than I anticipated. Very happy!

I removed my factory clock and clipped the Bluetooth mic into the opening until I decide on a permanent location.

All in all, a good evening working on my T4R :bigok:

I just dropped it off at the tire shop. Getting 265/75R16 Cooper Discoverer AT3s put on today to replace the Michelin LTX M/S Radial X that were on it when I bought it. The original owner traded it in to the dealer I bought it from, and by my calculations from odometer readings on registrations, service records, etc. these have about 85k miles on them, so they apparently wear like iron. The tread left had me much less concerned than the age of the tires. When I checked the date code, I found these have a manufacture date between June 28th and July 4th...... of 2004! :wow: Yeah, 11 year old tires aren't my preferred choice for something that I spend a moderate amount of time doing highway speeds in.

Beware, no tire rides as good as that LTX tire. The LTX has a bigger sidewall and much more flex in the sidewall than any other tire. That tire alone makes the 3rd gen ride incredible. I've had many tires, and when I put that LTX on it was like getting a new suspension. There is a reason that tire is so expensive. Also, that Michelin tire is all one piece, where other tires are two pieces and glued together, making a much stiffer sidewall and you will feel that instantly in the 3rd gen. If you notice, even with 35-40 psi in the LTX, the sidewalls still look like they are under-inflated making you think you are low on air.

That's one thing about that old LTX. It was the most boring/generic looking out there. I got the new version the, LTX M/S 2's, which finally have an updated sidewall. You are right, the orignal LTX was darn boring.
