What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Just picked up a 96' with 190k on the clock last week. Changed the oil, put in a new battery and took the steering column covers off so I can fix the tilt steering mechanism.
It hasn't been above zero degrees here, so I can only work in my unheated garage in small bursts .

Not sure if you got an answer on this somewhere else, or solved your problem. If there is air in the system, the sensor may not read correctly and may leave the thermostat open. Whenever I flush my radiator I change the thermostat. It is just good piece of mind. Hopefully you burped all the bubbles out of the system and it is functioning appropriately so you don't have to drain the radiator again.

I'm not monitoring anything with an app. Not sure which post you may be referring to other than the fuel log app. If that's what you are referring to, it's an app called Fuelly. You have to do input the data each fuel up manually.

Fuelly is great. I use it for all of my cars.
Broke the roof rack and tail light Sunday. Finally got some battle damage on it.

Mine had some huge exhaust holes... such a pain, and smelled horrible! Much better after a buddy helped me seal them up.

well I don't to pay to have it done, its too cold to do it myself...
I'm hoping the belt just needs to be cleaned. maybe some of that oil leaked on to it (doubt it)

Finally Installed and fixed my Valve Cover Leaks, and all the small things inside and gaskets (Spark plugs, Air Filter, cam plugs, 1/2 moons, PCV Valve,SparkPlug tube gaskets, Intake plenum Gaskets, washer seals).
Added the "TRD" Throttle body gasket! and cleaned the shit out of my throttle body which was covered in oil!!
Took 5 hours, we had a really hard time with the driver side.
Had to remove the radiator hose from the engine and some coolant spilled, and I never topped up coolant before and i bought Coolant for ANY color at a parts store, and put it in through the radiator, and topped it up till it kind of spilled. Did i do it right?
(I'm taking it to toyota to do a Coolant flush and fill in spring, I know it should be Toyota RED coolant)

Long life coolant, Flush it if you put anything else.

Well not a lot of coolant came out, and this is my DD and travel 1000km every week on the highway with this, I just didnt want it to over heat or anything. so I just topped it up through the radiator inlet. Hopefully nothing goes wrong cause the town i work at doesn't have a toyota dealership.
Yeah, first time actually, never did anything this extensive. Had a freind who is a mechanic help me though.

Spent today wiring up some rock lights. I built two small custom brackets out of scrap aluminum for the front wheels and found a nice mounting hole in the frame for the rear. Wired them up to my overhead switch console. [emoji1360]

Today, I climbed under my '99 with a spray can of Rustoleum High Heat orange, and painted both catalytic converters BRIGHT ORANGE. I then sprayed some black paint into a bottle cap, and used a small brush to paint my license plate number on the cats. Took 5 minutes. Should slow any thieves down a little.
I'd also ordered a 'CatClamp" for around $150, which I have sitting in a box and ready to install.
After reading about cat thefts on this forum, and realizing that if it happened to my '99, it would not only be expensive to repair -- but also a GIANT HASSLE, I decided to take pre-emptive action. I know the odds of my being a theft target were low, in the grand scheme of things, but now they should be close to zero.
I'd also ordered a 'CatClamp" for around $150, which I have sitting in a box and ready to install.

You do know that a new cat can be had for $85 and it'll cost about that to have it welded on right? A little paint stripper will pull the paint off your cat in no time. Considering you can sell a cat for $50-100, a $5 can of paint stripper is a worthy investment. The real fun would be to gut the cat and weld it back on. Then when they steal it they'll realize they wasted their time and you'll get a laugh out of it.
