My Wife and I decided to celebrate our 26th Anniversary in Nicaragua which is where we are right now! The day we left it snowed and it has been snowing on and off since we've been gone so my 4R is frozen in ice and snow, in a snow bank--- I'm positive the kids haven't bothered shoveling it out! What I'm surprised by is the large number or 4runners here in Nicaragua! ALL are 5spd 3L diesels or 2.7L gas. As a matter of fact, I've not seen a single automatic transmission car or truck since we arrived. Lots of 3rd gen diesels and 4dr Hilux trucks here. You don't have to go far to find a 4x4 road here, in fact lots of the roads in town I would consider such!

Too bad while putting my new valve gasket in yesterday i dropped a half moon down the oil return in the head..

Drove it only to find I have limited heat. Not the best time for the heater control valve to go out on me. Oh well, just $65 to replace with a new OEM one.

My heater isn't working well either. I'm afraid my new heater core got clogged with the damn stop leak I spent months trying to flush out. Heater valve is new and functioning and the inlet hose to the heater core is hot as heck but the outlet hose is like warm at best. Not freaking happy.

Took her to the hot springs. Unfortunately, the upper radiator hose I installed several months ago met its match with the fan blade and it wore a hole in the hose. So...I now have a new and proper size upper radiator hose and fresh coolant :reddance:

Got part way through my leather seat swap. Anyone close to Oregon need pristine rear cloth seats?

I've finally got all my cloth replaced with leather. I'm doing the door panels too so all I need is a limited driver's door panel and I'll be done! I like the leather so much more--and while it was apart, I added a heated seat kit to the driver's seat:flame:

Purchased a K&N air filter for my runner! Here's to fresh cool air coursing through her lovely veins!

Nothing overly exciting or interesting. Cleaned the battery terminals and removed my running boards. Looks so much better. Not sure why I waited over a year.

Purchased a new radiator. I wanted to replace it anyway (pink milkshake) and the fact it's spraying red Toyota coolant all over everything moved replacing it to the top of the list.

Needed freaking vice grips eventually (After pliers failed me, and after I broke the plastic valve off, lol).

Also the grommet fell into the hole... but luckily was easy to get out.

Received my new radiator in the mail, installed, and burped. Great shipper from eBay, I ordered Saturday afternoon and even on a holiday weekend got it this afternoon. Plus only paid $67 for 1998 TYC.

Actually, there are many similar complaints in this forum. I am waiting to do my valve cover gasket to do it together.

I either need to do vcg again or buy an inch lbs torque wrench and tighten the bolts, cuz they seem to be leaking again. Either that, or because I never cleaned the valve covers when off, I can't tell if the caked oil around the bolts are new or old.

I got one of those recently off eBay for $30 - a massive 8lb. piece of solid metal with a nasty heavy-duty ring.

Hope nobody swipes it off you. Get a locking pin or keep it in your boot until you need it.
