Well my Costco battery finally died... After 10 years!!! Replaced it with an Optima Red Top 34R. Friggen $300! Oh well, I'm sure it'll treat me well.

Remember, TRD has used probably 5 different manufacturers that they have put their TRD logo on for this exhaust. One was Borla, one was B&B tri flow, etc. etc.

Indeed. Mine was the earlier design that exited straight out the back like Gadget had on his old 3rd gen. Borla was the manufacturer for that design.

If I remember correctly (and I could easily be wrong) tri-flow made the one which most people have that has the side exit like the factory exhaust.

Just picked up this 1998 4Runner limited a couple of weeks ago and it's sat until this past weekend. Went on a camping trip (reason why it's a little dirty) but I got the old purple tint taken off and installed 15% tint all around.


Also ordered VC gaskets, spark plugs, wires, and ES steering rack bushings to have a busy weekend tuning everything up.

With regards to eliminating drone, what do you have in mind?

LINK - I'm adding resonator j-pipe... simple, and many others have had success.

in math wise, I'm adding a 35.5 inch J-pipe... the end of the pipe has a cap so no air is coming out of it, it's just a wall for the sound to bounce off at a 1/2 wave length of the incoming sound wave...

I understand the math behind it, please don't make me explain it... just read up on it, and try it out.

the real question is, where am I gonna put it? (I've read the rest of the following so it's speculation)

*after is best 'sound' cancellation...
*DOES NOT have to be a J,
*it's the length that's most important - I think this is true
*the less turn the better.

The correct name is 1/4 resonance pipes, otherwise known at J-pipes, and incorrectly known as Helmholtz pipes (Helmholtz is correctly applied to chambers). They work by being open to the exhaust before the muffler, 1/4 of the legnth as long as one of the resonant soundwaves, and capped at the other end. The sound wave is then reflected back into the exhaust at 1/2 wavelength, perfectly out of sync with the wavelength that's coming after it, thereby canceling it out. This is essentially the same principle as noise-canceling headphones.

Waiting on my axles at the machine shop still, so I modified the center caps for the TRD's. Much improved.

Looks good! I think you've got your rear shocks on the wrong side though.

Hmmm... Is there a specific way they need to be mounted? I tried them on both sides and I didn't like where I would have to place the reservoirs if I mounted them the other way. Will it hinder anything if I have them this way?

I imagine they'll be fine. Did they not come with the clamp for the reservoir hose?

Surprisingly no, they did not come with a clamp. I drilled into the plastic fender-well and zip tied it to the side of the fender to ensure the hose doesn't catch anything. I didn't take any photos of that. The hose is extremely long on these shocks.

Dang. Yeah, the hose is pretty long. There's supposed to be a clamp the goes right on top of the bump stop mount there. There's a picture in the instructions if you take a look. I am sure you'll be fine how you've got it though.
