What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Painted one slider and tacked the other yesterday. Got some more body work done and did some more work on the bumper. Slowly but surely its coming along. Also finally rolled it outside for a side shot since the lift.

Just bought the 4Runner Teusday so yesterday my sons and I detailed the interior. Working on cleaning up the outside a bit today.

Finished my Roll Bar install... ALMOST! Still need to make the plates for under the truck....

Anyone wanting to drill through carpet (everyone knows it will ruin your carpet, but if you take an iron to it first and burn \ melt it, it works perfect.

Due to damaged mounts on the roll bar, I had to make some new ones for the rear.

Finished on the inside! Next, Fire Extinguishers and mounts for some Flashlights.

Removed my front driveshafts, replaced the outer CVs and shafts with spares I had, reassembled and refitted.

I then started pulling my hair out as I found that there appears to be a fitment issue with the trutrac front diff... as per this thread

Removed and refitted the left hand driveshaft twice.

I'm now bad tempered with hurty arms :lol:

That exhaust routing through the side of the quarter panel is sweet! :thumb:

Interested to hear how well the paint stays on it and if you have trouble with exhaust gasses sooting up the bumper and such.

So far the paint is good, even after a 30 min drive or so with the family yesterday once I parked I put my hand on that plate to see and it was a little over warm but not burning by any means.

I did have problems with exhaust gas swirling up into the vehicle even when driving when we were building the pipe and had to stop last weekend cause we ran out of time, but that was due to the pipe stopping just at the rear frame and still angled up so it was collecting in the area that the 4runners have the spare tire.
Now is it great! Only a little fumes at a light today but that was because the wind was coming from behind the vehicle, once moving it went away fast.

I am really liking it.

What I like is the obscure reference to 50's chrome plated Detroit iron where they went to great lengths to route the exhaust through the bumpers - mostly a GM thing but Mercury did it too IIRC. The chrome all turned black and owners left it that way as a badge of honor.

If you could graft a chrome turn-down on to that port I'm not sure I could stand it. :thumb:

Assembled these....

What boots are those. The inboard boots look like the ORS without the "O" ring? Did you have to save the scalloped portion of the old boot? Who makes the outer boot?

I ask because I ran into fitment issues Sunday afternoon trying to install the aftermarket boots I have.

Yup they are from Offroad solutions.. 4 years old and still going strong!

Yes I re used the inner "Tulip" fittings from the old boot.

I was actually thinking these are so good I might buy another set as "Spare"

Yesterday I picked up an e locker rear axle w/ locker, front axle, and wiring. Now I need to find a free weekend to install this awesome upgrade.

I got all my roof rack and bumpers lights wired up and working, plus bolted my MR2 front seats in.

Filled out accident report. Rear ended again. Early 2000 Cadillac needs entire new front end. My 4runner needs some paint on hits toe hitch. Zero damage, didnt even bend the toe hitch at all.

Jeep pulled out in front of me and my tundra brakes did there job.

I got my battery box in, primed it and just finished the second enamel coat forbone side of both parts. Now to wait for paint to set so I can flip and do the other side. More pics to follow maybe.
