What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Has anyone seen a thread on snorkeling a 1999-2000 model? I'm buying the ARB kit but there are problems with obstacles in the engine bay. Searched with no luck lol

Did ARB come out with one for the 3rd Gen 4Runner or are you getting the Tacoma one? Been a few years, but I think the Tacoma one needs intake parts from a Tacoma to swap out on the 4Runner. Most people just get the Helix 167 Snorkel now a days. I just did mine last weekend. Works flawless and a 1/4 of the price.

Picked it up from a full detail, machine polish and ceramic seal.

Shiny levels are obscene.

Havnt been in a while, been busy with my anniversary and stuff. Got my CB antenna mounted on the bumper. Need to mount the CB, run the wire through the cab and tune eveything. Think I'm finally going to get around to painting my center caps tonight too. Still need to repaint the wheels too...

Hi! I am new! Not sure where to post this soooo...
Name is Amber....What did I do today with my beast...Drove her to my shop, popped the hood, trying to narrow down a few issues...
Some help would be AWESOME!

#1 She has a cold start issue. Intermittent for sure. Sometimes, I hop in and she starts right up with the correct RPMs..Most of the time, these days, I start her and it doesn't start so I have to nail the gas peddle...Sometimes the RPMs go up and sometimes they drop to about 300. The idle is a bit rougher than normal, put her in gear and she almost dies but once I get going all is fine.

No codes coming up.

#2 This annoying squeak will be the death of me. I hear it as I drive, hit the brake peddle and it disappears. Brake pads/rotors are in good condition still. I did pull the caliper pins, cleaned and lubed them. It helped for a few days but came back...Replace calipers?

Any ideas, suggestions would be great!

mine had a starting issue like that, turned out to be the starter not fully retracting sometimes on startup. I just replaced the starter and it fixed it.

I replaced the starter and battery exactly a year ago actually. It never fixed it

It wouldn't hurt to pull the intake tube and clean the throttle body and the idle air controller located under the throttle body.

*Clean throttle body (again), it was pretty dirty last time
*IAC
*Check for fouled plugs

If that doesn't help
*Replace starter

I would check the resistance of the ECT sensor. If it isn't reading the correct temp it will cause problems with cold starts. I had a Chevy Suburban that was doing just what your Runner is doing and a new ECT solved it.

and in googling a minute ago I learned you can view a vehicles emissions history in Colorado. Seems like the previous owner wasn't entirely honest :fish: I bought it in Nov of 2013..

Big bag of upper and lower ball joints ordered today ! Pushing 310,000 miles don't know if ever been changed. There leaking but no movement. Better safe than sorry !!! Kind of scary w/ my kids and wife in 4runner !!!!
