decided to clean under my front seats, nasty looking stuff you can see under there, so removed the center pieces and front seats and cleaned it all. best part , i found $6 stuffed inside the center storage (on the bottom side), probably from a previous owner.

I would love it if my 4runner paid ME for a change.

I picked up a set of factory 2014 SR5 wheels and tires in great shape from an eBay auction (Thank you to /gamefreakgc for the heads up on that).

When you get these wheels on, can you post a picture and remember to tag me? I'd like to see how they look.

Just got my old carpet out so i can do some cleaning and i finish with the elocker wiring

Does the carpet kinda just sit flush against the floor or are there any screws as well?

Word of warning: Make sure to check your e-locker. Moisture can sneak past the seal at the front....which is bad.

Built mtb trail on Saturday, on Sunday I did this:

Climbed Whitetop Mountain in VA after a four day backpacking trip on Mount Rogers/Appalachian Trail. Nice one lane steep gravel road. Frigid at the top but awesome views. [emoji3]

2016-10-23, 151152 miles.

Greased the driveshafts today. Per owners manual:

Used Valvoline Durablend VV279 (w-moly) on the slide yokes & double cardan joint.

Used Valvoline Multipurpose VV615 on the spiders.

Purchased two $15 Lubrimatic guns at Walmart per recommendations on this site. That was well worth it, cannot imagine trying to switch out grease to go back and forth between the two types.



Never done this before so it was quite the 'experiment'. I accidentally disassembled the zirk attachment on the grease gun, luckily found the spring bearing and flanges that fell out. After getting that back together, I figured out that pressure from the gun is what holds the attachment to the zirk, not screwing on and off the attachment... :redface:

All 4 joints were caked up in mud and grease so I cleaned them with an engine degreaser and brushes. PITA.

Cardan and spiders greased up no problem. Wiped off the excess. But no grease squeezed out around the shafts after many, many pumps. Afterwards read here that I may have put too much grease in the slide yokes, so I'll depress the zirk ball tomorrow to release any pressure, hopefully will not need to do anything more than that.

Moving on down the list!

Did you use a certain thread or two you could show me? I feel like I really really need to do this.

Bypassed and ran a line from inlet to outlet on the stock cooler.

Not real sure about the how. We were out wheeling and it was muddy so I was really pushing the rig hard. I think I had a combination of moisture in my diff from a leaking e-locker, the slick surface with occasional bite on hard rock, AND having additional power from the supercharger adding stress to the ring gear.
Usually the 8" diff in the 4Runner is very tough. I've never run a mechanical locker though so your results may vary.
