I need to do some research to make sure I have everything to prep and paint. I think most people use a hammered finish, but I will have to give a look see.

I know he recommends the Hammered finish. I just used regular enamel paint or whatever. Couple coats of primer and a few of the paint and it's been working great. If you'll 'use' them, anything should be pretty easy to repaint, that's why I went with mine.

that looks like it's 'mostly' surface... take a metal key ring and tap around on the frame.. look at the lower control arm mount (lowest frame point in rear) and if it's "solid" it should last you a good while.

I'm sure most guys in the rust but will tell you that's a laughable amount of rust.

Thanks to member AWilson013 sending me some tools. (Blown Radiator and half baked positive on chemical leak test in coolant) Tested cylinders...all the same. Not perfect but she has 250k. Did/doing cooling leak down and it did not move still. The "SNAKE OIL" is for later.

So I let it sit for 2hrs and shoveled about 9,000 square feet of snow from last night. Checked it again and not moved visibly. Will let it sit a little longer.

4runner Storage

I've been trying to find more ways to add storage to my 2002 4runner 4wd. I've been searching on google about adding storage under the rear seats but it doesn't look like there's much. I do have the one compartment on the passenger side but I was wondering if I could do the same on the driver side. Hopefully there aren't any essential parts in the way of cutting through to add storage.

There's nothing important under the drivers side, unless you consider the gas tank.

While back I bent my SAVAGE bumper. Was pulling my friends s10 out which was hung up on the frame. We had to use a short strap due to where he was stuck. We attached to my hitch. Few days later I noticed it was bent lol.

I personally do not blame SAVAGE or their design. I think in Offroad things simply happen. But Roy without hesitation told me to send the bumper back which he paid for the shipping. And he made me a new reinforced bumper at NO coast. Also gave me a discount on transmission/transfercase skid plates to cover the powder coat.

I thank Roy at SAVAGE for great costumer support and taking care of me. I stand 100% behind SAVAGE products.






Here is the new bumper. The bottom of the hitch has a plate welded. And also the bottom of the plate has a square tube.

So if you have a bumper with this. Well it's because of me lol.

ive been thinking of using the liftgate for more storage, its just an idea for now, but with stronger hatch struts i think its possible.

I thought about this too, but decided to go with building a rack out of 2x2 welded steel mesh to hang molle-style bags in the driver side window area. Sleeping in the back I need the space and I was also concerned about carrying things that roll around in the back slamming in to the liftgate.
