What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Parts showed up yesterday but too late to install. Added some 906/5100 on the rear of my 96. This place is awesome!!! Ended up exactly where I expected it to be based on real numbers from members here. Thanks all of you who took the time to help me and provide real measurements not guesses or it looks like!!
All pics are with a 1" body lift so please factor that into your calculations. I also drilled out the rests for an air bag 1000 kit if needed. I soaked my bolts about every day for 10 days or so with PB BLASTER to prep them for the change. I had no reason at all to loosen anything other than shock bolts and swap stuff out so confused why others take all kinds of stuff loose. I did the exact same thing on my 95. I know some will scream about using an impact on spring compressors but to each his own. Do those compressors look like it was their first time getting laid? Again to each their own, but I would and do wear safety glasses and make sure if crap goes wrong nothing will hit major body parts. It settles .5" after driving it for 20 miles. I used a Plumb Bob to determine if he rear end shifted at all...not one single thread on the brake fitting....not one single thread. I also measured each tire on the outside and not a 1/16th of movement. Anyone have any questions happy to share my experience. Now to add to about 10 different threads to help others. Be safe and enjoy while I figure out what I want for front springs. Another point is all the different ways to cut down the factory bump stops. I thought they were made of some special material....no they are rubber. Crap man...just lube them and a knife problem solved in seconds. WTH...sawsal...way too much effort!!

Monday night Mr. Slicey payed me a visit followed up by the BFH to fold over the pinch weld
Now the 35s fit with minimal rub :dancin:
Still gonna add a small body lift to eliminate it all and need to paint my inner fenders to put my splash guards back in.

LOL my beautiful photography skills sure don't show it well. The black paint doesn't help show the detail either...
I did grind on any hard edges to round them off a bit so I don't have to worry about getting cut up if I'm working in the wheel wells
Silicone was also added to ensure no leaks so that on its own removes some of the depth of the metal

Obviously your are in BC, but damn how do you not know your co-workers?? I only have about 35...not one has a 4 runner. Only 3 others even know what off road means....the rest think because the 4WD in automatic works they have it figured out!!

Co-worker could be a new guy!
The wife has been driving the 'runner this week... (F-150 had some recalls and I'm closer to the dealer) so I've been gazing longingly at it through the kitchen window.

WOAH! Looks like you found [MENTION=63060]rickashay[/MENTION] old 4Runner! I'd recommend checking out his build thread, tons of great pictures and writeups. His 4Runner really was the one that started my obsession with my Desert Dune 4Runner.

My office just moved to a new location in Downtown Kelowna and the company has consolidated operations into one location. We have 130 people here and there are at least 3 4Runners in the lot at any one time ... several Taco's and a couple of Tundras.
I also see too many F150's, Sierra's and RAM's ---- sad.
Up in my old compound, There are 3 3rd Gens, I like to believe I had something to do with that!!
There are lots of trucks in the Okanagan!

Yeah I've been following all of his builds. Tons of great material from him! That's pretty awesome a co-worker has his old 4Runner. Now you get to see it everyday! Super jealous haha
Finished installing my newly rebuilt original starter tonight. Needed to replace the contacts again and the plunger for the first time after 200k miles. I have done the contacts before but this post from mtbtim was very handy for the part numbers again.
I will also add that you can buy the rubber vent tubes as well - part number 28199-74110(you will need 2). Both of mine were shot after 17 years. Now I will be good for another 100k. :bigok:
Also, this is one time that I wished my 4Runner was still 2wd. It was a pain in the butt to get the starter out!
