What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Here's a post with some photo's I have in another thread. It's pretty cheap, it's easy, it's bomber. With my Rola rack I have about 3/8" clearance between bottom of the rack and the roof.

I almost never like color matched off-road bumpers but this one looks really good!

I am the same way, I was reluctant to go this route. Glad I did!

What did you use to color match? Looks good :first:

It's actually lined with some industrial liner and painted over using the color code on the door trim.

Well..... nothing is easy when it comes to my simple projects.

What started as a missing / rusted weld on my frame turned into a somewhat larger project.

Got it all cleaned up with several sized grinders. Found a small hole. No biggy... it got bigger. Ok. Cleaned it up some. Ended up a bit bigger then a golf ball. Well bat crap on a cracker! Where did that come from?!?!?!?

Angle iron and some custom fitting covered it well.

Never claimed to be a welder and this is with flux core wire. At least it's on my frame and not on my bumpers. I'll upgrade to a bottle before I modify my bumpers.

Replaced front output shaft seal of the transfer case. No more leaks and wasn't very difficult! Fun Saturday morning project. Also gave her a nice coat of nu finish!

Changed the oil and filter for the first time since I've owned it.

Did Toyota forget the oil filter needs to be periodically changed? That thing is buried! :frusty:

I saw where the splash guard had been peeled back to get at it previously and that helped, but man does it make a mess.

As AvE says, a grinder and paint makes me the welder I ain't!

Finally got some time this morning to mount my winch on/off switch. I placed in on the fan shroud. Seems bomber but time will tell. Also had time to squeeze in the diff breather mod.

Then, of course, I had to go test out the diff breather. I went up Silver Canyon and down Wyman Creek Canyon. The crossings up Silver where deeper then Wyman but these shots will give you an idea why it's called Wyman Creek Rd. Super fun trip with about 50 miles of dirt and streams than 40 miles of pavement home.

It's ALIVE!!!! It's got power, and I have a new air hose and connections. All the quick connects are the high velocity kind which "claim" handles twice the air as normal connections. My system can air up my tire from 12 lbs to 44 lbs right at 2 1/2 min. I do know I have at least one air leak in my system that I have to fix. But at least I have a complete system now! My compressor is getting hot and that's due to me going full retard. This whole time I knew I was going to put a screen above the fan for the compressor... Did I? Of course not! Totally forgot!! LOL

You actually should pull it out through the flap in the driver side front wheel well. It comes straight out hope that is helpful!
