Finally got the rear shocks out. Time is at a premium lately, and those things would not break off like every one else's. Sawzall and cutting wheel took care of it.

Used a heat gun in an attempt to get the firewall area of the wheel well liner bent away from the 33's when turning. Little bastard piece of plastic was catching the wheel when turned just right and making a noticeable sound similar to putting a playing card in your bicycle spoke as a kid! Trimming the front bumper flares and doing the pinch weld mod were both previously done, so this was the only other thing my tires were making contact on. Running Spidertrax spacers adds additional track width, which in turn creates more interference.

Also picked up a scrap piece of 3" square steel tube (3/16" I think) and cut a couple pieces to length for rear bump stop extensions. Already have some Wheelers Superbumps to replace the stock bumps. Mounting some 5th gen T4R rear Bilstein 5100's this weekend, so I'll find out soon enough if I need to add some more length to these extensions after I cycle the shocks. They're 14.91 collapsed and 23.5 extended, so this is a necessary step to avoid overcompressing these longer shocks.

Front Bumper ordered...

Super stoked, I finally ordered my Addicted Off-Road front bumper yesterday. Went with their plate bumper. :reddance:. Now begins the hardest part, the waiting... But it'll be worth it, I've been drooling long enough over pictures that a little longer won't hurt waiting on perfection.

The body shop that was authorized to fix my July 31 rear end accident pre-ordered and received a used lift gate and new center bumper section. They allowed me to come inspect the parts. today.

Once they get the rest of the bumper parts I'll drop my truck off and get her back to tip top shape. I requested my old parts back and they agreed.

It will be interesting to see how the new bumper fits. I see a lot of shiny new bumpers (like mine) that all droop down because the spacing is wrong (like mine). They are cheap $100 aftermarket ones made in China. I'm going to have to try to figure out how to shim mine level.

Increased the nitrogen pressure in my rear shocks from 195 to 250 psi since the rear end felt really soft after the tank swap. Boy what a difference it makes! It almost feels too stiff now but I’ll leave it for a few weeks to see how I like it. I may drop it back down to 230psi if I feel it’s too firm.

Spent a couple hours plasti-dipping my grille, didn't like it, peeled it off. Kind of a waste of time!

It wasn't terrible and I spent no time researching it first. I would have saved a lot of time had I known a couple of things up front. Loosen the body mount nuts (I think 2 on each side) on the side of the car before attempting to lift the rear. Second, what worked best was a LONG pry bar wedged between the frame and body in the rear. And last, don't be afraid to MUSCLE that body up until it clears the mount and body so it can easily be removed. A second set of strong hands to do the lifting, while you work on the mounts, would make the install go much quicker. I was by myself and had to lift and work on the mounts.




Hahaha, right? I estimated about 30 minutes per side. I think I have like 2 hours per side into it, not including clean up and coffee breaks.

Well, my plan is to do it the same time I add a 1" body lift, so I should already be jacking the body up anyway. Shouldn't be too bad since I'll already be halfway there.

I finally got around to doing the timing belt and water pump on it. At 205,000 miles. What a relief.

Haha, yeah, it actually needs paint. the hood and roof are pretty faded. BUT, it's my fav color too and the only one I've seen for sale in a couple of months. So I went for it anyway. I'll make it perfect soon enough

This one was in a Toyota box with a white sticker that said TOYOTA in orange letters in the inside of the bumper
