Diversity is key

Ordered this dual antennal Y cable to get the diversity antenna setup back into my aftermarket stereo

I'll install it this weekend and report back if it was worth $10 delivered

EDIT: we need a micro antenna adapter too, luckily there's a Frys next to my office

And here's a cheaper Y splitter than the Metra I bought, also we don't need all that length of the Metra Y

Mine was not. I hope you have better luck. With my main antenna down I don't get any signal what so ever.

You may be disappointed in the result. A true diversity receiver switches between the two antennas based on which one has better reception.

I fix the problem by basically never listening to the radio. :bigok:

Scheduled maintenance

Just a simple oil change, tire rotation, wiper blades, and weekly pb soak for the upcoming suspension work, and "slush catcher" delete. Also, washed, waxed, and detailed the interior with some new weather tech universal "cut to fit" floor mats.

I saw this before, and from a technical standpoint, the differences in Cable lengths (as many other different reasons) will hurt the reception, instead of helping. With strong signals you may not notice a difference, but weaker signals will definitely be worse.

I'm with you Mike, I thought the splitter and micro adapter were pretty commonplace around here for those integrating a taco whip into their aftermarket h/u whilst also using the diversity from the back glass???

Without this adapter installed, and with only the one, larger-plug antenna connected, I have noticed some stations coming in with static that I had not noticed being static-ey before

If this adapter does not help, or in fact "hurts" reception, I will just remove it and/or find another way of utilizing diversity antennae

Out with the old

took the smoked Toytec coilovers and stock UCA’s off. Coilovers had about 35k of daily driver and weekend abuse; UCA’s had never been touched from the factory with 348k on the rig.
In with the new

Fox 2.5 factory series with resi’s. Had to trim the shock tower just a touch for hose fitting clearance. Maybe 1/2” horizontally off the leading edge for 1.5-2” distance vertically. Forgot to grab a pick of that but I can probably get one in the light if anybody is considering these. No real drive time yet, just around the block for function test. Gotta get an alignment tomorrow then it’ll be play time.

Side note: anybody know if the older Boss Toytec’s are rebuildable? They’re hammered but maybe could be refurbed into good spares?

I picked up some parts from Craigslist and worked on installing them. Got a new bug deflector that will hide some of the chips on the hood, and stripped the old window visor adhesive off the doors. Got half of a new set of visors installed. Not a huge fan, but it looks better then it did before.

Finally got the parts that have been sitting in my garage for 6 months. 890's and icon 2.0's in the back. Icon extended travel coilovers, control arms, and oem LBJ's in the front. Waiting on fedex for new OTRE to finally be able to drive it.

Had to take it back into the woods while we were doing firewood to give the tractor a boost. Coming out I followed the tractor up the hill and crawled up it no issues hauling 2400lbs of wood on a wagon. I had to use the diff lock to get up the same hill! Can't DD a tractor though.

I put a 10A fuse in there but the camera draw is minimal. I have not calculated, measured or confirmed with the FSM - but I will receive my printed copy this week and will follow up :thumb:

Did you end up following up on this? I've been trying to use that spot with no multimeter and haven't had luck getting anything to power on.

Took my new (to me) 3rd gen on a little trip up into the mountains. Completely stock right now but I have a bunch of parts on order. Looking forward to this build!

When I have my halos on I notice a slight but very real decrease is radio reception. That is another reason I have them on an independent switch.

Interesting, I can easily test that. My halos are wired into my marker lights.

Replaced the OEM LS400 fuel Pump with an uprated Walbro.

I hate removing the fuel tank!

Still one less job for when the supercharger goes on!
