Today I say farewell to my 1996 Toyota 4runner dubbed "Island Paradise". I have finished my 3 years of pre-clinical education on the island and I am now returning to the States for good! I spent a lot of time looking for the right owner that would take care of her as she took care of me. She was my first introduction to 4runners and I'm now a life long admirer of them. She taught me a lot about wrenching and I hope to one day own another 4runner.

Sold my 4runner.... Loved that truck but ive put 35,000 miles on it in two years, needs the timing belt service done, LBJs replaced, 2 new tires, and the buyer offered me ONLY $500 less than what I paid in March 2016. Going to put the money towards buying some land for a shop, Ill be back in a toyota soon.

Seems like a neat place for school. We drove through there a couple summers ago on the way to Brimstone Hill from Turtle Beach. Was it hard being on the island long-term (besides the hurricanes)?

Flying out on the way home was awesome, there were so many service animals to pet in line at the airport, haha.

Im off today so im going to finally get around to installing my ET lug nuts on my front spacers and mount my flush mount reverse lights on my bumper and wire the reverse on my trailer plug for the new offroad trailer im building.

Finally got the last 2 JIS screwdrivers to complete my set.. took over a month to come from Japan.

This is the others I ordered. No more stripped out screws anymore, hopefully.

Timely oil changes. This is mine at around 270k miles:

Before I got it, it was just normal dino oil changes every ~5k miles (full records, always in the family). It had two Rotella T6 oil changes before that pic. The oil still gets dark fairly fast, as the Rotella is probably still doing a fair amount of cleaning.

I've been enjoying mine while taking apart my old rolled WRX. They fit so nice in the cross head screws!

Adjusted the slip yoke at steering shaft above the rag joint. Steering was stiff and now it's back to normal. Loosened the bolt, turned the steering all the way left and right a few times and all was back to normal. The steering auto centers after a turn. Thanks Tim (MTBTIM) for your help!!!

I made these tear bump stops today. I decided to make my own bump stops instead of using the spacers that lower the factory rear bump stops.

All rubber with a rigid mounting base.

Gonna put them on this weekend.

What do you guys think?

Yup, just routine oil changes from 3000-5000 miles depending on driving conditions.
Im the original owner, so it has never missed an oil change.
Mobil 1 synthetic from 1000 miles.
