What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

My headlight bulbs went out the other day so I decided to upgrade to some LEDs since I was having to replace them anyways. I also plan to get rid of the DRLs so hopefully I stop burning through bulbs so damn fast. My wife has been running these bulbs in her Tacoma for a while now and really likes them.

The LED is on the left, the standard bulb is on the right. The LEDs are the Cougar Motor LED off of Amazon.

Installed a 99 center console in my 97. No pics until that console has a twin stick sticking through it. Then I promise to photobomb the shit out of the whole forum. lol

Finally installed my ARB compressor, [MENTION=28464]eimkeith[/MENTION] PCK, and Gobi ladder. Then I took it down to Baja to make sure it all worked. I was actually chasing the surf but it sure is fun getting to it now

Ordered the rear axle seal/bearing kits from Marlin Crawler, now I sit here and wait.

Since I don't know how to sit idly, I did the rear diff breather extension mod while the truck is out of commission:





Also got tired of having to slam down my new Sport Hood to get it to latch, so I replaced the ridiculously stiff OEM spring (bottom) with a spring out of the headlight (top). Much easier to close the hood, and best of all, still all OEM 4Runner parts :

We can't all look like mall crawlers like me! I still envy what he did with his front grill...and he had a terrific shower water set-up I wouldn't mind having either. His little table was a smart idea too.
Both trucks had very nice upgrades, I was taking a few mental notes.

I'd be lying if I didn't agree about the color for some reason- thanks!

Checked then cleaned out the evap core. I'd last done it in June 2011 w/expansion valve replacement. It was gross and approx 70% blocked.

and now it's shiny pretty and you can see the fins again.

I have to ask just how much grunge there is in St. Louis? When my brother lived in KC, it wasn't too bad. He did go through many air filters when he lived out there.

Well over the last couple days I replaced my clutch hydraulic cylinders on Sandy.

The new master cylinder didn't have a new gasket for the firewall, oh well the old one was ripped but seemed to work.

Disgusting gunge in the master cylinder.

New and old together. I think Marlin Crawler sells an overhaul kit so maybe I'll get that. Or considering how cheap they are maybe just by new ones. And then keep them as spares on trips.

Then onto the slave:

The new one comes "painted", I don't even know why they bother, it's so bad. I primed the machined areas and painted with black rim paint.

It was a little tricky getting the flare nut to thread in properly when the new cylinder was installed. Next time I think I'd start the flare threads first while it's still loose. It will all come out again sometime soon since I think my clutch is going out. But at least I now have good hydraulics.

And yesterday I went to my mom's house and noticed all these fir cones on the ground near Snowy. Then I saw this huge tree top that fell only 2 feet from her!!! These stupid grand firs are terrible, the wood is sh!t and just breaks. The top was loaded with like 100 pounds of cones.

Notice the nice shiny rims? Some day she'll be back on the road.... I normally only park her in the forest in summer because of the winter storms but we had a summer windstorm. I'm sorry girl, I'll find you a better spot.

Not too bad, we get the the worst of it in dust and sand on trips out west. Especially dust- Colorado's been so dry. There's also some fiberglass from the exhaust heat shielding from the firewall, seeds, tiny bits of leaves, probably some pollen stuff too.
Here the air filters last pretty well but on vacation we knock dust out of them every fuel fill-up and/or use the oba blow gun on them out there.

Found a nice shiny screw sticking into the tread of the 5 month old tires. A trip to NTB to get a internal patch and $35 later all is good again.

The 98 T4R:
Got a timing belt, wp, t-stat, radiator, pulleys, belts-6.5 hrs (had to pull AC bracket off due to stripped bolt on tensioner)
oil change - 20 mins,
fuel filter - 15 mins,
and rear sway links-10 mins.

The 00 T4R :
New sway links x 4 - 25 mins,
new calipers up front, braided steel brake lines x 3, bled all brakes - 60 mins,
rear qtr duct body vent - 10 mins.
Last week was new alternator - 30 mins.

Love cordless power tools and the right tools for the job!! :eyebrows:

Not sure if any are in your area, but Goodyear Shops will patch tires for free, if it's doable. I went through this last month myself. Was waiting for a catch but there was none!
