What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Today I just appreciated my 4runner. It has been a glorious 2 years of driving my 20 year old, 240k having, green machine. And so I also extend appreciation to this forum for helping me do a bunch of general maintenance and grow my knowledge base.

I could buy a new vehicle, but I literally already own 2 of my dream vehicles (both 3rd gens) and just can't even bring myself to consider anything else.

Replaced lower balljoints, front driver axle seal and drained the ATF out of both boots on my steering rack. It never ends...

70deg weather & bored so opened hood.
Replaced upper/lower surge tank gaskets.
Adjusted TB transmission kickdown linkage.
Installed new coil packs.

last 3 months I’ve replaced Injectors , wires , plugs , PCV & TB cleaning
All had major positive effects but still felt some acceleration lag & very minor miss so coil packs with over 200,000 miles no codes present became my focus.

For testing purpose ENA coil packs were used.
I purchased them from Amazon 34.00 for 3 - 101 reviews 4.7 rating.
To my surprise their working well eliminating issues had improving performance 96 T4R is running beautifully.
In the coming months I will invest in Denso.

Randomly checked the Pick N Pull listings here in the Bay Area... there was a 2000 that just arrived.
I had caught Sean and Tim's video on all the pieces needed and removal process. So pulling it wasn't bad... the center console was just disgustingly filthy. Like "probably had kids and never cleaned crumbs/etc" kinda filthy.
Now I just have to wait until the weather clears up to do the swap since the rerouting the buttons i'm not suuuuper thrilled for. I actually like the rear window button in the center.

Radiator

Purchased 99 SR5 4X4 V6 Auto.in November 2018; trying to catch up with repairs and maintenance. So far I have replaced; Replaced the radiator, It was turning brown. Flush and fill with Toyota red, Adjust valve lashes, replace #4 injector, spark plugs, plug wires, clock spring (to repair cruise control), replaced all oils with Mobil 1, replaced all lower control arm bushings and both lower ball joints, front end alignment replace 16” wheels (chrome was peeling bad) with 17” but went with 65%aspect ratio to maintain OEM diameter, replaced audio with new pioneer, replaced all dash and console lights, installed new rear gate inner seal (it was missing); repaired rear gate key window control, all grill retainers (grill was loose), replaced drivers door switch, replaced all filters, replaced passenger side power outside mirror, replaced power antenna ( have yet to put in manual control but plan to), replaced rear brake shoes and drums, replaced front seat belt webbing both sides, except for the audio system all parts have been OEM getting good prices online from McGregor Toyota. And of course doing all the work myself (except the alignment)with help from many on this site.. Thank you all.

The center console assembly was $22 and the E-Brake assembly was $23 or so. then they charge you $4 for environmental fee on your purchase.
The lid was missing since someone had already picked that in the last week since this came from a Limited and all the leather is in great shape from what I saw. Fortunately they unscrewed it rather than ripping it off and the console was otherwise good.. But it would have normally also included the lid with the price I believe

also bought a heated/self tinting mirror glass for a jeep, that was $7

Just hit 200K miles so did the timing belt, water pump, flushed radiator, replaced leaking valve cover gaskets - there were 3 broken bolts that had to be drilled out of the cylinder heads... :tsk:

Just added some costco weathertech mats to my 99 Limited.

Before that I had "Custom" ones made from old carpet.:frisky:

Drove my beast from Boulder to Santa Fe and when I got here, discovered my reverse isn't working. She's parked and she will go into drive but just revvs when in reverse. Any ideas?!

My partner suggested that we can push her out while in neutral and drive to where we need to go but I'm not exactly sure she is road worthy with this going on

Not today, but a few days ago I ordered a full set of Weathertech floor mats. Front, back, and cargo. Can't wait for them to get here, so I can have a full interior detail done including washing the headliner and carpets.

Today I replaced the rear lower control arm bushings with the Whiteline set. Uppers to follow soon.

Errands around town in the PNW snowstorm. I had scheduled with Costco for new shoes for the Snoop, so I dropped in and had them do that. Stock size Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3s, 265/70R16. They seem to work quite nicely in the snow.

Replaced my power steering pump (again). Just did this 2 months ago. at least it only cost me $4 for a new quart of ATF and about 3 hours. Thank goodness for lifetime replacement. though I always think of "Tommy Boy" in moments like these.

The rain finally let up, so I had a new windshield put in. It's amazing how much clearer it is than the pitted 21 year old windshield was. I wanted to go OEM, but was not willing to pay the $300 premium - this one was fully covered by insurance. I also talked at length to the glass shop, they said Fuyao is OEM to numerous car manufacturers, and they recommend it without hesitation:

And finally fixed my passenger front door switch:

As with the other switches I repaired previously, the problem was not in the switch itself, but in the grounding screw. So I cleaned it up, added some Oxgard to the threads and under the head, and reassembled. Good as new!

Replaced the plugs with NGK BKR5EKPB-11's, replaced the plug wires with NGK RC-TE66 wire set, and added the Airaid Modular Intake tube.

Swapped out the center console plastics with replacements to fix the ashtray, cup holder and air vents. I then swapped out the cigarette lighter and put a screw in the cupholder to fix the broken tab.

Wired up a relay for my Low-Range Offroad E-locker switch so now it's only hot when the key is on.

Replaced water pump, timing belt, gaskets, coolant, etc.
