Needed help diagnosing what the issue was with my recently gifted 2001 limited.
Apparently, after a thorough inspection by my trusted wrenchers, their report is as follows ...
Diagnosis and resolution: Center bumper impact pushing radiator into the fan blade. Use come-along and 4 paws to persuade radiator off the fan blade
Here's my chief Australian Shepherd instructing the less experienced GSD to go paws deep into the engine bay and use his highly tuned hearing to confirm the motor purrrs just like it should.
I am still waiting on how many treat pounds they will demand before they get this mangled mess back on the road.

Ripped out a poorly installed Viper alarm system. And after MANY tries (my poor timing ability) synced up new key fobs to the factory wireless entry.

picked up two junkyard seats from a 00 sr5 that was delivered the same day. great shape. also grabbed the front end, headlights,corners and grille.

This is something I've wanted to do on mine as well. I've cleaned mine, but it still doesn't retract on its own. I have to manually feed it back in or it will get caught in the door. I'm pretty sure the retractor mechanism is just done from 250K of service.

Did you buy the whole assembly, with retractor? Is there a part number for it?

Did the console..
So, last weekend I visited the Pick N Pull and acquired a full set of front controls arms, as my project this Spring will be to do the complete front end--- upper and lower control arms (bushings) upper and lower ball joints and rack. The steering has been getting progressively sloppier over the last couple of years. I did the rack bushings and guide a few years ago which helped but with 290K KM, its time for the full meal deal.
This 2000 SR5 had only been in the yard for a couple of days, so it was more or less complete. Luckily, the console was intact and both headlights! All these items set me back <$100, overall a very good day! I installed the console Sunday afternoon. Just a couple of notes: if you're swapping consoles, make sure you take the mounting bracket and handle. To do this mod you need to swap the mounting bracket as its shorter, you will have to remove the retaining tab on the handle groove and a tiny corner of the console where it meets the shifter surround, on the drivers side, to fit flush.
