took her for an alignment after finishing my rack job. shop can't do an alignment because of a trashed LCA bushing. seems it got wrecked when my LBJ failed last summer . . . another job to do. always something, right ?

We have these on my bike forums and didnt find one here with the search. So lets get this started. As the title states, what did you do to it today?

filled the gas tank. 307 miles on 20 gals.

my rack extension was delivered today, so moving from a 3/4 rack to a full rack ? Went to the pick and pull and got the correct headlight switch for my fogs ( got fogs used with a switch , switch did not fit, wrong year). got a taco whip antenna at the pick and pull, but not the main antenna assy. fender was crunched but whip was good. ( got a good power antenna assy for sale)
seems like these old 3rd gens and 1st gen taco's are getting hard to find in our local wrecking yards, and I hit all 3 of them in 2 cities.

ill keep that in mind.i searched for so long for seats in general especially matching color or close(gray) that when i found these i intended to eiether paint them to match or use seat covers. well i put some covers on them and they looked terrible. I dont mind the two tone look of them honestly now that they've been in for about 2 weeks.

Had a bad pinion bearing in the rear end so while I was at it.....
out with the old.......and in with the new !!! I like things to match so the front diff got one also. Hopefully I'll have some time to run the lines soon, and do the 500 miles of easy driving for the break in period.

Replaced both front sway bar end links at 330,171 miles and so far it’s amazing no more annoying popping

Did the old LED swap with white, I am happy with the result and how the white looks with my Pioneer stereo.

Oil change

Did my first oil change on my 3rd Generation today. I see why the warnings about messy oil filter removal. I pride myself on oil changes with no drips on the driveway but today my shame was on display.
Also, found where the speaker wires for the rear door speakers feed into the doors. Cut those wires at that point and installed bullet connectors on them and then added speaker wire routed to the rear of the truck. I'm going to mount a pair speakers on the columns by the rear window and run the speaker wire behind the window moulding.

You learn to drain the pan, then spin the oil catcher to just take the small drips from the pan, but be far enough to the driver's side to catch the filter spill. Then you clean up the control arm and such with a rag.

Try loosely wrapping a rag around the oil filter as you remove it to help sop up the oil. Helps a lot in preventing an Exxon Valdez like oil spill.:shocked:

Busy weekend! I just bought my 4Runner Friday, and can't stop driving it since! Yesterday I took off the running boards for more clearance offroad and to protect them from damage. Today a buddy and I went looking for some adventure and came up short due to too much snow keeping most forest roads closed, but we had a fun time anyway.

This is basically what I did. I have a feeling that somewhere in this forum there are more than one post on how to do a less messy oil change.

Are you getting a knocking sound? For the past few months I've been chasing an occasional chirping sound when the engine is cold. The sound goes away at speed or when I back off the gas, so it's gone when I pull over and pop the hood.
I had the belts removed to check for bad bushings and bearings but that was no help.
