Valve Cover Gaskets

Here is the unvailing of my passenger side valve cover:
These right when I pulled the cover off untouched not cleaned yet...
Rig is 2003 V6 2WD SR5 4Runner
Mileage 265,000
Oil: Mobil 1 Syn changed every 3-4K
Filter: Mobil 1 M209 or M102







Driver Side and job completion tomorrow

Mine was like the first pic from factory. Not the wheels obviously but the trim was grey. I plasti dipped it and it looks like the second picture. (Matte black caddling now)

That looks really good. Did you remove the trim to plasti dip it? Or did you tape and spray in place?

Tape and peel, used cans with thick layers and zero striping. Warm up plasti dip in a bucket of hot water before spraying. Did three coats. And thanks!

80k mile service today.

Things I would normally do myself, but I'm still apartment living for the next month or so until we close on the house. I miss having a garage so bad!

Also, started the dash replacement order process.

Finally getting my compressor mount completely fabricated and ready to go. Got a pile of goodies I need to get in there. Also did my first EVER welding today. Lots of fun and good experience, but be warned, they are not pretty haha. I made sure to grind 'em down though and put some paint on it

Installed my christmas present!!! (new pioneer headunit). I have no experience with car audio at all and everything went really smoothly, so I'm excited.

Also in the lower left of the pic is my recent lightbar switch which got wired into the dash light circuit, more exciting things.

Washed/installed usb charger/center console organizer/greased ucas & lubed uniballs and I broke one of my window vent shades. That double sided tape gunk sucks to get off.

Trust me, that was the hardest part to figure out haha I blew a fuse in the process. Basically I tapped into a wire going to the center diff lock switch (since that has illumination). My switch doesn't dim but it still looks and works great. I'll get a picture for you when I can!

This is the one I got and I really like it. I've heard of a lot of people using switches from AironBoard so that's also something to look into.

This is the one I got and I really like it. I've heard of a lot of people using switches from AironBoard so that's also something to look into.

That's the one I was lpoking at. Seems to get ok reviews I guess. I know the onboard air one are supposed to be good, but $30 for a switch seems steep to me :-/

Here are my two switches side by side as im removing the lower plastic cover



And this is looking down at them with the cover off. My lightbar switch is on the left, center diff switch on the right. The red wire going from my switch to the center diff switch was the one that controlled the dash light illumination on my switch. I then connected that red wire to the green wire on the center diff lock switch (you should have 3 grey wires and 1 green wire). This will make your switch light come on when you turn your lights on.

Replaced the wheel bearing on the right front today. It had 160k on it so it didn't owe me anything. funny thing was, when I got it off the housing was packed with what appeared to red mud (red clay) unless it was roasted bearing grease, which is a possibility.

Anyway, while I was under there I was reminded that I still need to replace the left side inner axel seal bc my front diff is leaking. But I just could bring myself to tackle that today as I drank way too much tequila last night.

If my fr bearing wasn't so far gone I would still be in bed.

rear LED bar

Installed my rear LED bar this weekend. I used a 4 wire trailer hitch connector so I can remove it when I want. Water proof, cheap, and easy to work with.

I bought two and fried them both trying to hook them up to my Rigid Duallys. For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to wire them. They seemed high quality though!
