What did you do with your 4runner today?

I don't think is referring to stock/limited add a piece of trim type of flares...lol since LTDSC has fiberglass flared front fenders and wants the same for the rear which would be the whole rear panel made of fiberglass and flared to match his fronts, which I'm suprised by now with how long the fronts have been out for that rears aren't as well(outside of Japan)

What are they running anyways?

I wander how much a fiberglass company the makes molds would charge told mold the rears and then just copy the front flare/arch and adhere the two sand/ fill reglass (a lot of work) and you have prototype to to make a master mold from.

The one out of Japan is for the 06+ and upwards of $750 and then I'd need to modify a bit before paint.

Yeah I just put on a set of spindles and now contemplating getting flared fenders but I would want the whole set as well ...mmm 750+shipping +mod time +match painted ...hot damn that adds up. Lol

I tried to change my timing belt, but I struggled with the 12mm bolts that hold on the clutch fan. I was able to get two off, but two are going to have to go through another few rounds of penetrating oil and waiting. It's also clear to me that one of the box wrenches I was using has worn out contacts and has to be replaced before I strip the nuts.

Nobody wants stripped nuts.

Yeah I actually like the cherry bomb vortex setup you had, maybe because of its lower tone. So I may just go with flow master because of that nature it has to it, of course it'd be a lot easier to decide in person lol. But I'm looking for a nice loud sound to eventually accommodate a new air intake and supercharger. I think all 3 will give me exactly what I'm looking for, but that's far down the road from now so it's def nice to get an idea. 'Preciate it man

both these muffler only install was using custom bend 3 inch pipes, the muffler guy was like damn how he managed to get all the bend nicely up over the axle, maybe why my system was louder since it had 3inch pipes instead of the 2.5 everyone was using.

Regained 4LO and Center Diff Lock

Any one looking to buy a transfer case, Its about to go on the classifieds. Rod fell out actuator when replacing the transfer case front face, couldn't get timing right, works perfect for 4hi, just beeps for 4lo and no center diff lock.

Finally got around to adding me some flush mount aux reverse lights. $25 lights off amazon and I actually couldn't be happier with the outcome. Here are a few pics of the install and final product. I have them run to my center console switch plate with just a cheap Auto zone switch until my custom push button switch gets here Tuesday.

Also prepped my grill to test out some DIY LED backlighting. Hopefully I can wire that up next weekend.

fantastic Bamatoy! I am looking at doing the same thing to my '05. do you have a link to the lights you purchase? just cut a hole and screw into the rear bumper? did you run a relay or anything?

Thanks for any additional info.

yosh2000 I'm on my phone and can't post the actual link. But the description is " Turbo 2pcs 18w Flood Led Work Lights 3x3 Dually Flush Mount Cree Led Light Lamps Dually D2 Off Road 4x4 4wd Jeep Truck F150 Tacoma Bumper"... but just search "turbo flush mount" and you'll see them. They are pretty heavy duty for what they are and heavier too. As far as the hole I had to make my own template since these didn't come with one. I used my dremel and made the cuts with ease. The lights come with 4 screws, lock washers and nuts. I used those and added lock tite to them as well just for my own reassurance.

Snap On
Flank drive works on flat side of nuts and bolts.

If I could afford Snap-on tools, I'd get them. I have some gear wrenches that get a good bite, but I'm afraid I'm going to strip out the ratcheting mechanism in them because the bolts are so tight.

So, I had the wild idea of cutting a 12mm hex socket down to a profile that would sip over the nut, cutting the box end off the worn wrench and welding the cut socket onto the end, then using that to break the nut free.

I still have a few hacked together tools like this from my stint with Volkswagen ownership. Most are not pretty, but they did work.

Many times I've bought a certain tool for one job.
Snap on is very expensive but if it gets the nut loose without ruining it, it would be worth it.
If you work on cars 8 hrs a day they are worth the extra money.
When I was 19, my weekly payment was 50% of what I made some weeks.
Thirty years later, I'm still using the same tools.

Finally did my 5100 upgrade!!!! It was a seeeeeeerious pain in the ass to get done but well worth the experience and the $500 or so it woulve been to take it somewhere. My ride has vastly improved and Im really happy with the results!

I don't disagree at all. I have a few Snap-on and Mac tools that I got second hand and the quality difference is obvious, especially in the ratchets. That said, the consumer grade tools with a lifetime warranty work well enough for a hobbyist like me most of the time.
