What did you do with your 4runner today?

Not today but last weekend, took the 4Runner back to Daniel Boone National Forest for a camping/hiking trip. Some friends that were going to tag along backed out so we opted for a super long hike Saturday followed by some hammock time and camp fire dinner, then sleeping in, big breakfast over the fire Sunday, and slowly meandering home following the Kentucky Adventure Tour (KAT) tracks. It wasn't a challenging wheeling trip at all but really relaxing to mosey along, stop and see all the sights and enjoy the outdoors.

The polishing compound works fine, it's the stupid little pads and doing it by hand that doesn't work well imo. I think it will be fine with the drill-mounted pad.

What exhaust do you have?

Exhaust is Doug Thorley shorty headers with 2.5" straight downpipes, stock y pipe, stock sized cat back pipe with a flowmaster SUV 50 muffler and resonator delete, side exit tip. This video makes it sound very beastly....it is but doesn't get too loud when really on the throttle, remains fairly smooth sounding. I really don't like the sound of these V8's when opened up too much they get very raspy.

Put clamps on the inner CV boots, small end. This '08 I just bought there were no clamps on the inner small end, all the other clamps inner and outer were there and OEM-type.

Weird, Carfax didn't mention any CV maintenance performed. As recommended, used these rounded edge clamps so to not cut into the boot https://www.amazon.com/Precision-Brand-Smooth-Metric-Clamp/dp/B002M8PGUW?th=1

Tried to inject grease into the boots using this injector needle Performance Tool W54213 - Grease Injector Needle | O'Reilly Auto Parts

Sucked. It performed as it should puncturing the boot and injecting grease inside, but such little volume from the tiny needle I'll have to try something else or spend hours pumping 3 ounces of grease in.

I'm trying to go the cheap-n-easy route, we'll see how it works out. If the CV's were noisy I'd replace everything, they aren't so I'll cross my fingers and hope I can get away with cheap-n-easy. Truck has only 97k miles on it.

I fixed the thwap thwap sound I heard on my way to work in the pitch dark on an isolated road. Sounded like a flat tire. Pulled over and using my phone as light started looking around. Luckily I looked up on the roof and found a soaking wet hand towel wrapped around the roof rack that I'd left up there when I cleaned out the truck. ))))

I love seeing the underside of a non rusted southern 4runner. There's very few that clean left up here in Canada. It sucks knowing that my truck wont die on me so much as rust away.

Mobile 1 15K oil change, Lubed the drive line, Buffed the headlights and found a rusted and broken fuel tank strap. Thank goodness for the skidplate!

Gave it a good wash, including under the hood. A winters worth of dirt had it pretty messy under there.

Cussed at the '08. I thought I'd fix it up to work for me, then donate the '07 to an animal rescue organization that does work in remote areas. This 2008 turns out to be the most PITA of all my Toyota trucks since 1990.
