What did you do with your 4runner today?

For the basic maintenance stuff that I have done since I got mine I have thought the same thing. Nothing has been overly difficult.

Camped up at Alabama Hills on Friday night, and brought the bikes for some riding on Saturday.

Then we headed up to Mammoth mountain for the night. Woke up to a little dusting, but the mountain actually got a few inches and was surprisingly good.

So, I changed the oil and replaced my cheap, underpowered, greenish HID fogs with some 80w LEDs. Liking the look a lot more....and am no longer worried about their legality.

Been driving my '05 Sport a lot since the Miata got put into winter hibernation, and I was thinking what a shame it is that XREAS is so expensive to replace (I keep reading over $2k). It really does a great job of controlling body lean and nose dive.

Mine is noticeably "tired" at 182k miles. The shock bodies are showing rust deterioration, but luckily no leaking. I'll hopefully swap it all out for conventional shocks next summer. But if it weren't so expensive I might be tempted to replace with all new XREAS (and a leveling kit). The ride and handling is just really good.

Right? Mine's starting to look the same way, the shock bodies aren't looking too good at all (and I think I found a leak last time I was under there :'( ). But when I had a buddy from college (who has a significant amount of trackday experience in various cars, and a significant amount of backroad experience from our college car club) visiting last weekend we took some back roads on our way somewhere. He followed me in his Mk 7 GTI and when we got to where we were going he gets out and says "That thing should NOT f***ing handle as well as it does. It seriously blows my mind." Obviously his GTI handled better, but he went on to tell me that he'd be pushed sideways in his seat wondering how the hell the 4Runner hardly even had body roll in the same corner.

Between XREAS and stiffer sidewalls from E-rated tires, the 4R actually does pretty well in the handling department. Even when compared with many cars.

Did same with mine. Was the first thing I ordered for it when I bought it (got link to seller from a thread here). Id love to do the white LED swaps, but I have some other projects to tackle first

It's not drippy or runny and they didn't apply it to exhaust parts at all. I do smell 'crayons" but I suspect that will dissipate quickly.

The shop recommends I redo it every fall.

I've only ever done it with the aerosol cans before, in my driveway. It doesn't coat nearly as well, and it most certainly didn't last the winter. The formulation the shop uses is quite different. I actually have a friends who's a navy airplane mechanic and he had this to say when I first started looking into it...

Installed some new 2nd gen moog branded endlinks that were rebranded sankei 555

I bought a set of 5th gen snowflake wheels with basically brand new tires. Now I need to decide if I want to install them and run as is, run my current tires for their last 15-20k miles then switch, or remove and sell the new tires and install my choice of all terrains on the wheels.

Replaced windshield wipers and gave her a much needed bath. My roommate and I decided to have a go at plastidipping our 4Runners this week and they turned out AMAZINGGG...I ended up doing all my aluminum colored parts (grille, factory roof rack, rear hatch cover, wheels, faded hood scoop, and my emblems excluding my front and back Toyota bulls). In all, it took probably ten hours doing mine alone cause we wanted to do a good job on it. Now I'm dying to spray bedliner on my plastic Sport trim :hungry:

Replaced busted cup holder/tray in rear armrest

Lot's of passengers in back of T4r so I finally got around to replacing busted cup holder/tray in rear armrest. Cost was just under $200 and took about 30 minutes to replace.

Busted cup holder tray - one arm broken and tray pulled completely out.



Repair complete

Got a set of weathertech mats

Drivers side marker light was out, so replaced with Amber LED. Had to move the battery, but got the LED in correctly so I didn't have to reinstall the bulb.

Side Marker Light

Replaced blown driver side marker bulb with Amber Led bulb. I used a tip from youtube and used a 17mm deep socket to turn the bulb housing after I disconnected the led wires. The socket made it easier, 6 point socket.

Installed some yellow foglight assemblies from ebay to replace one of the broken OEM ones. For $45, they were much better than I thought.

Ordered some Falken AT3 tires and Method NV wheels from Discount Tire. Tires were out of stock but everything should be here by Christmas!
