I did a V6 conversion today.
Had issues with about half the bolts, rusted from NE winters. Had to dismantle the grill to get the last bolt off.
Cleaned off about 11 years worth of crud afterwards. It did leave a slight black mark from the old gasket. I'll probably polish it off later this week.
You can see the upper two brackets basically broke when I tried to remove the bolts. Two of the brackets holding in the metal frame also broke off. One of the nuts was rust welded on and ended up breaking the stud off.
I had this factory new Limited grill sitting in a box in my garage for a whole year. Ordered it before I picked up my car last year but never opened the box. Luckily no damage, I doubt CamelBack Toyota would have allowed me to exchange it out if there were any issues.
The old V8 badge looks sort of faded against the brand new black grill.
I still need to hit up Lowes for new nuts.
I also went ahead and replaced the cabin air filter. I probably shouldn't have been lazy about this...the filter has also been sitting in my garage for the past year.
Trying to catch up with all these parts I have sitting in the garage waiting to be installed.

thanks. i jumped on a cyber monday deal and they install is a little tricky but they are as good as people say for sure. seem like great quality.

I went and got some new tires yesterday. Nitto Terra Grappler G2s in 265/70/17. I thought the size difference would be minuscule but they were immediately noticeable once on my vehicle. Given I only picked them up yesterday, I'm very happy with my choice. The bigger tire gives me a slight bump in height and also fills in the wheel wells a bit more. The tread is slightly aggressive but doesn't make any noticeable noise over the BFG long trails that were on there before. The grip is real though. We just had a shit ton of rare snow/slush/ice here in seattle and with only a handful of plow trucks and a refusal to salt the roads, these tires couldn't come soon enough.
Also used my 4runner to tow my buddies BMW track car home after it died a mile from his house. Apparently it weighs less than 2500lbs but I didn't even feel it behind me. I could hear my engine working harder than normal but I couldn't really feel the weight of it.

Changed the upper and lower radiator hoses and cleaned the MAF sensor.
clean the maf for a reason?
cut out original LCA , removed UCA. replaced with 1A kit, new quickstrut assemblies, rough country 2/1 spacers, oem outer tie tod ends & re-conditioned oem hardware. and new 32" boots and 2011 gen5 alloys. all good, but my wallet resigned and walked out.

Looks good! I’m about to tackle a similar endeavor. Can you do me a favor and check to see if the upper and lower ball joint threads are the same diameter and pitch. In other words...will the same castle nut fit on both?

It took longer than a day, thanks to work and I’m kind of a procrastinator, but it came out pretty good. New head unit and some plastidip work. Now to see how long until I accidentally peel up the plastidip, lol.

So last Thursday's torrential downpours revealed a leak in my 4Runner. My driver's side footwell was practically a puddle. (On a side note, I'm glad I put my ham radio in my center console and not under the seat.) I could not figure out where the leak was coming from. I checked the sun roof drains, but those were draining great.
So I got in the passenger seat and had my daughter hose things down, and when she hosed down the driver's side front mount for my Baja Rack water started coming down the B-pillar and was running along the side curtain air bag and down the A-pillar. Source found. While checking the mount, I found that the to bolts were loose as $3 TJ hookers. Apparently I must have forgotten to tighten them when I installed the rack. :frusty::doh:
I used a wet vac and rags to get as much water out as I could last night and today, the first sunny day we've had in weeks, I have all windows down and a heater and a fan blowing on the wet carpet and padding. Yay. So much for that desert trip I had planned.

Not today but within the last couple of months. Dobinsons lift and UCA installed, deleted XREAS, 285/70/17 KO2's put on, 5th gen Trail wheels, limited grill installed, poly sway bar bushings and FJ sway bar links, HID and halos installed... been busy lol but my sport is finally how I like it.

Changed my front wheel bearing and hub assemblies. Old one on the passenger side sounds like complete shit.

Left this morning to the junkyard and decided to engage 4wd for kicks n giggles. Everything engages fine and working except the heavy rain reminds me how much I hate these KO2s. Every wash I hit on the freeway is a dance I don't want. It would not disperse the water at all. Runner would start to the S. Just waiting on them to wear out but damn they last forever. smh:crybaby:
