swapped out SPC bushings today. What a gigantic pain in the ass. So much so im getting rid of them. Already bought Total Chaos arms so whoever is in need of some with low miles and new bushings let me know.

I dunno.. I know plenty of guys who run em problem free, and I definitely want something a little stronger than my sheet metal UCA's... Good deal and with the new eibach's I got, it's time for improved travel because I've about maxed out my capabilities with my stock UCA's

The UBJ's are MUCH easier to change on the SPC's. The UCA bolts on my truck are wicked easy to take out too because of my body lift.

I'm sure the bushings are a PITA but I recall there being a poly option for them?

Chalk me up as one of those running them problem-free. The only issue I had with the ball joints was when I damaged the threads with a pitman arm puller and replaced the whole ball joint since it was the easiest option (only costs $75) and took 10 minutes to replace.

Their customer service is also outstanding and they sent me new/updated inner-bushings sleeves for free upon request. After running these LR UCAs for well over a year, I will continue to recommend them based on my own experience as I think they are a great value (low cost, corrects alignment issues, improved ride quality, etc.)

It is also worth noting that these are not maintenance-free and should be inspected and have the bushings re-greased periodically when necessary.

i have know a guy from nj who does not even wheel and had an arm separate
could have been real bad
i got 40k out of bj's and 30k on the second set....
been through 3 bushing changes by spc.....
and it looks like they have just changed them again....
its never ending with them
but hey you get what you pay for right....
g/l...hope they don't destroy your tires when thats right not if but when the bushings fail.....
for an extra 100-200 you can get a quality arm with a uni ball and have much more articulation
hit me up when u start developing clunk and noises you cant account for
i know i am not the only one this had been well documented by many many members on tw.....
yes spc was great about customer service the first go around.....
after that your on your own......
plus get old swapping out your bushings year after year, bj's too...and with the possibility of the arm separating.....
forget it im amazed how they are still in business.....i guess they sucker use all in with the cheap price
the last set of replacement bj's i received the bj was already starting to pit right out of the box.....thats quality control.....

I don't have your number, but I honestly don't think I'll be too bad. My tires are wearing weird now because I can't get my alignment into spec as it is. This is a benefit here.

This is The Trail Groomer, I already have clunks I can't find, squeaks over bumps I can't locate, drivetrain issues from the lovely state in which you reside.

Some people are lucky with products and I think I know how to set these up properly to avoid bushing issues. Time will tell though! If they don't work, then I'll send em along to the next one and try to recoup my investment. These are only to hold me over before I go all out with Total Chaos 3.5".... I just don't have $2,900 to spare on arms at the moment.

i am so glad this 4runner has the exact same front end as my taco.....
i can do the whole front end swap in a day......:drum:

if you guys have a go pro and sliders or a way to mount it below u can solve most of your mystery squeaks and clunks.....

i am amazed that they can stay in business.....
all the horror stories i hear and see plus my own experiences....
i wouldn't even sell them off mt taco...just junked them and did the world a favor....

Working on my bumper today with my buddy. Trying to get it finished up! Adding some recovery points and finalizing welding and grinding. Should be nice after I prime and bedline it

dont be leery of it. Not to completely bash on some people but you get what you put in to it. You go and wheel it hard and take it through hell and back, you're going to get noises. You're going to get things that fail. Its just up to you to decide if that is worth it. To me its not. Hitting a puddle/mud is fun but screw the clean-up, screw the dirt hitting you in the eye whenever you work on it.

I still enjoy my 4runner in the wheeling that i do, i also am very OCD and things are cleaned up instantly, knocks/pops/clicks annoy me until i fix them.

Just up to you how you want your vehicle to be and how you want it to last.

I'm the same way. Like to idea that my truck can take me wherever, but not into destroying it for fun. The clean up sucks, wear on parts, etc. I can't wait for this weather here to stay warm to get some much needed love going back into truck. This winter was rough. Need a good detail, replacing all rotors, time again to swap diff fluids and swapping out suspension to something simpler and quieter. Then I can add some more fun goodies. Truck is running great and all, no problems, just I am anal about her care.

Use quality parts, respect the limitations & maintain the truck and random noises will be a minimal issue.
