Ordered 2 remanufactured OEM steering racks from CVJ axles for the upcoming rack swap day. 1 for me and 1 for zak [MENTION=55855]zopperman[/MENTION]

What is the reason or symptoms for the swap? Curious.:gossip:

I have leaky end seals (very very minor..We're talking a couple drips each oil change) but the rack mount bushings are also completely shot. The rack has about 140k miles on it.
I'll be doing a diy writeup and review of the cvj rack post install. There are already some great YouTube videos of how to swap.

**to test your rack bushings, have someone turn the wheels left and right while you watch the steering rack body. If the bushings are bad the rack will deflect at the mounts.

Yeah...seems that way. Dealer must of installed it, but why this one instead of the stock one? It has definitely peaked my interest now although it is of little significance after 6 years haha.

The OEM V6 hitch just bolts to the crossmember, and has a ~5,000 pound capacity. The V8 and most aftermarket hitches bolt to the frame and have a higher towing capacity (the V8 with frame mounted hitch is ~7,500 pounds). It's possible yours didn't come with one from the factory, or someone swapped it out for a higher tow rating.

I'd be real interested in a writeup, my rack has 182k on it and has alot of play, and I never checked the bushings so they're probably mushy.

Changed the plugs in my Shadow Mica (92k miles). They were the originals. Half NGK and half Denso.

Got a storage container to put in the back. I don't need a big elaborate shelf system for no more than I carry so this will be fine. Mainly gonna put essentials in there and maybe piece together some recovery items and what not. It's the perfect size for what I need.
