What did you do with your 4runner today?

Replaced my LCA's with new factory LCA's. My cams were frozen so the alignment shop didn't have much to work with. With 134k on the odometer I figured it wouldn't hurt to replace the balljoints.
The two rear cams came out pretty easy, but the two fronts I had to cut out with a Sawzall. What a pain in the butt that was. The whole project took me about 8hrs, but that included a run to HomeDepot for cutting blades and waiting for the paint to dry after I touched up the scratches from the saw blade on the frame with chassis paint. I also painted the LBJ brackets that bolt to the bottom of the knuckles since I had them off.
My advice to anyone doing this is to have all cams/bolts in hand prior to starting and assume you will have to cut them out......if not, consider yourself very lucky and just return the parts that you don't use.

My next big project will be rotors, pads, and calipers all the way around.
I did a full front and rear suspension replacement in July. I had the same problem with those front LCA cam bolts. No amount of heat, penetrating oil, BFH persuasion, or torque was going to bust them loose. I ended up at Home Depot and did the Sawzall routine with lots of penetrating oil on the blade. What a totat PITA! I coated all those new, replacement bolts with anti seize prior to assembly. Sorry you had the same troubles I did. But, in a way, I do feel better it wasn't just me that had the problem.

Yeah, I'm surprised I haven't seen more people complaining about this job. I tried the all-thread method first with a large socket.....worked on my 3rd gen.....but no love.....not even a peck on the cheek. I too was liberal with the anti-seize and I might just set up an annual alignment to keep things moveable (firestone lifetime alignment).

Can anyone point me to a tutorial as to how I can remove all of the granite trim pieces in the dash? Specifically the stuff behind the HVAC controls, and the stuff around the cupholders? The useless CD holder was easy though!

It's easier than you would think, it's the 2 bolts behind the heater a/c control knobs that I forget every time though.
