What did you do with your 4runner today?

Did some painting projects on the wife's runner this weekend. De-chromed the front grill. I used some duplicolor perfect match titanium/silver metallic (had to order it off amazon), sanded with 600 grit, then 2 coats of adhesion promoter, 4 base coats from two different angles, then 4 coats of clear. For the middle portion, I taped off the silver painted part after it dried for about 4 hours, then sprayed with duplicolor "trim paint". The middle removable portion is just plasti-derped. I also screwed up my tape line on the bottom 1" strip so I plast-derped that too. I wish the chrome portion separated from the black part. I hate taping. it never looks perfect.
Now I need to do the BHLM
Here's a shot (pre-weather strip) of how the paint matches. It's pretty close.
Today, I pulled the hitch off because it was pretty rusty for some reason and the powder coat was peeling off. The rest of the frame and components only have very minor surface rust, not sure why the hitch was so bad. I went at it with a wire wheel on the grinder to chip off all the peeling paint, then switched to a 60 grit flap disc and sanded as much off as I could. Then I coated it with some naval jelly rust remover and let that sit for about 10 minutes. Rinsed that off then cleaned with denatured alcohol. Shot it with 3 coats of self etching primer per side. I'll spray it with some black base coat tomorrow, then a couple coats of clear. The hardware is soaking in some evaporust til tomorrow.
In case you're wondering, naval jelly cleans concrete very well. The spots on the driveway were super clean when I rinsed.

Got us a Christmas tree with the family. Friend came along and helped him take one home too (note the two trees on the roof). First time I ever did this. Knowing I was going to cut down a tree and throw it on top my roof, bought a thick cloth cover (Walmart in the painting section) to protect my paint. Had a blast. But, doubt I'll do this again (pain in the ass)

Not today, but over the Thanksgiving weekend I ordered a bunch of stuff: Konig Six-Shooter wheels, General Grabber AT2 tires, EBC USR slotted brake rotors, and EBC Yellow Stuff brake rotors.
Installed a new rear hatch scuff plate.
Changed my engine oil.
Drove 1200 miles.
Consumed vast amounts of food and alcohol.

Same thing, very busy holiday weekend.
Had my exhaust turned out to the side.
Installed my CB and tuned it.
And hit up the offroad park...
And my wife said a full armor setup for my 4R could be my Christmas gift! So I placed my order with RCI. Full armor kit including Gas Tank skid. Stoked.

Took her to the dealership for a transmission flush and when I was getting ready to pay the tech says, oh we flashed the ECU for you…I assume he was expecting me to thank him but instead I reacted like I've never reacted before. He just stood there in shock, so after talking to his manager, the flush was free and the driveshaft is fixed.

ugh, that stupid update, I thought they had to notify you before performing that? This and the gas pedal cutting are why I stay away from the dealer at all costs
