What did you do with your 4runner today?

I got out of my driveway without snow blowing. I only did around the truck so I could clean it off. Uphill, deep, and icy. 4lo, center diff locked, and lots of skinny pedal

Don't use 4Lo in snow, results in spinning the tires to easy. I hope you had fun though!! I know I love playing in the snow when we get dumped on. All hard pack right now though.

I have stock size goodyear triple treds.. They were put on brand new from the dealer 3 years ago about 25k on them.. when I bought it.. Honestly.. an amazing tire for a non-offroad tire. goes in everything ive ever put it in with ease.. wears like iron and smooth silent ride. traction is amazing, rain, snow, ice, sand, dirt trails. Im sure they suck in mud but ive never had an issue for what I do.


The tahoe is a 2007 LTZ with a z71 front end conversion. 6 inch fabtech lift. 35 inch trail grapplers on xd rims, a whole shit ton of rigid lights. And he is a cop so he also has police lights. volant air intake and police push bumper. I think that covers it.

time for another reflector lens reverse lights update. I had the lenses totally trimmed and perfect for the lights, painted as well, all the brackets and hardware ready to go, wiring harness made, and i pulled off my bumper, popped out the old reflectors and......

no bueno.

the holes for the reflectors looks much different than both the ones I've seen on gaterose's write up, from gshadow325's reverse lights, and any other bumper I've seen, my suspicion is that because my rear quarters are aftermarket, they have a different style opening. I figured its no big deal, trimming will fix. so i started trimming, then realized that with the size of my lights and the size of the L bracket, it wouldnt mount the way i planned. to top it all off, the reflector lenses for some reason don't even remotely fit into the bumper, and i would have had to get super creative to make those work (think fiberglass and bondo).

in the end after head scratching and test fitting for about an hour and a half, i decided to cut my losses and mount the lights elsewhere. Ill still provide a mostly full write up on my work, but the mounting location will be different. sad day considering how much work i had done to realize they wouldnt work out.

Realtruck.com. They are $230.00 shipped, fronts only. Clazzio sells single color fronts only for $300 so I thought it was a great find! Hard to find single color single rows online. Been lookin on ebay/Amazon for a bit, too. Single color full set is about 420... Also a great deal. Cheapest I've found at least!

will do, im mounting them in two pre existing holes in my bumper with the L brackets to clear the bumper cover. i couldn't believe it when i pulled the reflectors and just held the lights up to the opening. it would have been extensive to make it work

yeah its disappointing, but the plus side is ill still have the same reverse lights, just in a different location

yeah, ill still mount them up just not how i planned. i appreciate your reflectors even more now, if i had started from scratch with mine it would have been a huge bummer!

Dang man, wouldn't have thought an aftermarket bumper would have that much deviation from the original OEM part. I still may attempt at some point... but gotta worry about new tires first.

i don't know what the deal is. looking at it more the opening for the reflectors is actually larger than it seems on OEM pieces, and that may be part of it. i had at least 1/2" all the way around the reflector lens of space, more than i wanted to try and silicone or blend in

Time for a new truck, then I'll worry about stuffing some 35's on the FJC because they'll actually fit that....

Aww, come on man!! I stuff those 35's all the time no problem! Little trimming, and all set to go. I drove my mom's FJ for a week, no thanks! I liked the extra headroom....annnnnd that was about it. Plus, I have 3 kids and my fiance, we wouldn't fit in an FJ. We're all tall. lol
IF I have an FJ for offroading, I would have to do a supercharger and anything else for power cause that thing is gutless compared to my T4R.

Thanks, it's definitely a lot of work and effort to swap everything, but it's so worth it. When I see a stock Toyota now, I'm like WTF

IF I have an FJ for offroading, I would have to do a supercharger and anything else for power cause that thing is gutless compared to my T4R.

I disagree with everything except the back seats being bad with kids.
