What did you do with your 4runner today?

This is exactly why my Tacoma is getting sold for a commuter within the next few months as I add on to the 4runner. I'm getting 16.5-17mpg because my commute is mixed with mostly stop/go and I have a feeling once I put the lift and tires on, I'm going to drop to 14ish.

I get about 16mpg. With a lift and 265/70/17 tires. I live 6 miles from work and it's nothing but 35-45 mph and lots of stoplights.

Had a buddy all lined up to give me a hand on Saturday putting my new painted front bumper and flush mount LED light bar in the grille, and then this happened Friday night.

Shuttle bus ran over a steel pole which pulled the throttle cable to wide open.

Driver lost control and came barreling at me head on at full acceleration. All I could do to avoid being killed or seriously hurt was swerve out of the way. Fortunately I didn't get hurt or killed, but he caught the back corner of my truck.

Sucks, but I'm glad that I wasn't hit head on, or it would have been REALLY bad. He couldn't stop the vehicle and barreled through me, and almost plowed into a cement wall, which I very well could have been pushed into. He went on 3 wheels and did a 180 deg turn to avoid the wall, and then threw it in park and pulled the key while the engine was redlining. Happy to be alive and unhurt. Getting estimate at the body shop tonight right after work. :yo:

Dman man! Glad you are ok. Paint can be replaced easier than you.

I had a dump truck rear end me. Good thing I had a steel bumpers no damage other than a knick and bent his front tow hook. The man was distracted by a orange cone.

Yes.. it requires a suffolk county outer beach permit with a green key pass. The combo of the two of them is about 120 bucks. It gives you access to 11 or so different parks in the county for the whole year. It also includes a state fishing lisence for saltwater fishing at the parks.

Put a wrap of electrical tape around the rear hatch catch hoop. Magically no weird squealy/squeaky/chirping noise when I slam a rear door! Best fraction of a penny ever spent.
