Calipers from a 5th gen I'm assuming ? Bolt straight on ?

There's a thread all about the 5th gen brake conversion here in the 4th gen section. You need 17" wheels or larger. 16"wheels won't clear the caliper. There are a few other details but essentially yes they're direct bolt on. Read through the thread. I replaced all calipers, rotors, pads and soft lines to stainless for around $500 doing the work myself. Biggest tip, if you buy new calipers, spend the extra $20 and get pre painted calipers or they will develop surface rust quickly.

I've had zero issues since coverting and increased braking power. Living in the rust belt at the time made it a pain with a few seized and stripped nuts but in the end I'm glad I did it.

That's awesome I did find the thread! Thank you for the info. But I wonder if they're better than the sport edition brakes ? Cause I already cannot run anything smaller than a 17 inch wheel

Didn't do it yet, but soon -

Finally got started tearing everything apart for the re-gear and locker install. Got everything dropped out last night. Just have to get the diffs apart so I can take them to a buddy to set the gears up.

Same brakes, just better caliper design is the way I understand it.

It was a truck belonging to a guy helping me cut trees on my property. Combination of 2 wheel drive, street tires (biggest factor), wet ground, a bed full of timber rounds and a hill. The 4Runner didn't break a sweat.
