Fixed my hood scoop light after a short in one of the connectors.

That looks almost like a DT connector. Is it? If so, it's missing a piece.

It's been about a month since I did this mod and I haven't noticed them turning off due to overload. I'll keep an eye on them just in case. I plan on changing bulbs to Amber LEDs in the future which should help drop the amp draw if needed. I also plan on doing ja's drl on/off/auto mod in the future as well.

That road over Rollins was originally a railbed built about 1880 or so before the Moffat Tunnel was drilled in 1928, there's a lot of history there. The old Boulder Wagon Road cuts off just below Yankee Doodle where the campground is, that road dates back to about 1860. Just above Yankee Doodle they tried to drill a tunnel also. The Moffat Tunnel also added in a cutoff for the Williams Fork River to divert Western Slope water to the Front Range via South Boulder Creek. Those oldtimers were some drilling sumbeeches. The old Boulder Wagon Road is closed now because too many knuckleheads with 4WD tore it up thinking alpine meadows are mudbogs to play around in. Just stating some history to go along with the pics.

Yeah! I've done my homework on it. I like to read up on the areas I go to get a better feel for where I am in time and space and this whole network is just full of interesting history. It's crazy looking at these 150 yr old ruins and thinking about the guts it took to do all of this with the bare minimum of tools and tech. And here I am casually rolling up for a day trip.

Yesterday hit a pretty cool milestone and thankfully was paying attention and grabbed a pic

Today I changed the oil for the first time in about 8K miles, ran a half quart of clean synthetic through and let it drain for about a half hour. Then filled it up with fresh Mobil 1 and a Fram Ultra Synthetic Oil Filter. :frisky:

Greased driveshaft. Not sure it needed greasing as I only had to squeeze the gun 3-4 times before grease came out of the seals.

Yeah, It was the first time I used one and I'm pretty sure I put the pins on the wrong side so that plastic piece didn't fit... I was too excited to install it and didn't look into it.

They're great connectors, I used them almost daily at work. Much better than Weatherpak or Metripak, IMO.

Check out ProwireUSA.com. Best prices I've found on those, even better than Mouser sometimes.

I have a little bit of welding experience and I am seriously considering making a rack like this. It looks great! What was the total cost of the materials? Could you make the mounts smaller/lower? Did it simply mount in to all of the factory holes?

Total cost of materials is under $150, spent $30 on the paint alone. I used 1.050" OD tubing with 0.065" wall. 3 of the cross members are 0.125" wall due to the store making a mistake. $40 was spent having a shop make the corner bends for me. I had the welding wire prior to the project.

The mounts could be made shorter but you'd have to bend the cross members to clear the roof center-line. Right now the cross members are about 1.25" off the roof in the middle section. Yes, they mount to the 4 factory locations.

I have practically no welding experience aside from making a simple table prior to this, pretty sure you could do it too.
