What did you do with your 4runner today?

Wasn't too happy with the color of the D2S osram nightbreaker headlights (4300k) so I bought the Philips ultinon bulbs (6000k). Hopefully will give me the color I am looking for.

Hopefully will have some time this Sunday to get them installed.

If you're overdriving the HID's with a 50 or 55W ballast, the color temperature reduces. So a 4300 bulb at 55 watts might look like a 3800 or 4000 bulb, a 5000K bulb would look like 4000 or 4500K, etc...

I used the VHT caliper paint, satin black.

Got around to installing my rear air bag switch thanks to @JA for the idea. Now I just link them and set pressure through one shrader valve then choose whether I want linked or not. Advantage being that I can link them then go loaded off road and let air volume spill from side to side while crawling for better flex then decouple them when I'm back on pavement for increased sway bar effect.

I have a little bit on bumps, I attribute this mostly to being on the stock springs in front. Going to go either FJ springs or OME 885 in about a month or so when I have to replace the CV boots, will raise it up a bit and help. Also going move the fender liner even farther forward in the front. The Falkens run large for the size, 33.6 inches tall and squared off edges.

Really enjoying them so far.

Rotated my tires and installed new splash guards I picked up from Eddie at Rad Rubber Design.
Old vs. new, and installed. The Toyota ones (which were only two years old) had either fallen apart or fallen off completely, and these from Rad are much better!

Blue Seas USB Charger INSTALL

Ordered 2x Blue Seas USB 4.8amp Chargers.

Wasn't feeling comfortable drilling anyplace new within the truck, so I opted to continue modifying the center console (who really uses that little pocket?). I had previously removed the bottom pocket for an sPOD 6 switch bank and used the same technique to support them within its place.

after trimming away the unnecessary plastic, I used cardboard as a template before cutting a 1/4" thick piece of scrap wood. Using hot glue to keep it in place, I drilled out the required dimensions for the USB ports. For the fiberglass and bondo, I went to Lowes and followed the manufactures instructions.

Next to fiberglass for added support, Bondo for cleanliness and finish with primer and paint.

a couple more coats of paint and wet sanding and this will be complete

Installed Bilstein 5100s and FJ spings

This was last weekend, but with the help of a good friend and his lift, we installed Moog FJ springs, Bilstein 5100s set at 1.75, Daystar 1.5" rear spacer, Mevotech LCAs, and Toyota cam hardware. It was on the lift for about TEN HOURS, most of which was spent hacking through the completely frozen original LCA hardware. Took three cutoff wheels and ten thick metal sawzall blades... Gotta love working on 12 year old rust belt vehicles.

Had a shop pre-assemble the struts and they messed one up. Had to install it and drive home, then take it out and back to the shop so they could fix their mistake.

The lower ball joints had been completely toast for months and the handling was getting dangerous, especially in the rain. With the stiffer suspension and new LCAs, it's like driving a new truck. Only issue now is a weird speed-dependent noise that I'm not happy about-- I suspect a CV.

Anyway, pics! Still riding on 265/65R17s until they wear out...

Much happier with the look. The 4300 were just too yellow for my liking.

My left front caliper had a stuck piston, so the new setup stops a lot better.
These seem to have a better bite...could be the akebono pads. I'm not sure what brand/type the old pads were.
