What did you do with your 4runner today?

Before you break any glass I would get a second opinion from a auto glass installer, just to be sure!!

Definitely take out the drivers window. Cheaper and easiest to replace. Or, you can take the passenger side- cost should be about the same and you don't have a pile of glass on the drivers seat.

Anyway, this happens to me: Went to "tap mac" and while driving out, a large chunk of ice and snow came crashing onto my hood. F**K me.

I made a claim with my insurance on an app, still, this sucks.

Broke off a bolt in gas tank skid while installing WKOR sliders. No biggie, drill a nicely centered hole for ez out then snap! F, no drilling that sucker out. 4 hrs later I got that dremeled out and retapped. At least slider install itself was a quick job!

Left Telluride , CO, and after planning on another night of camping in AZ, we decided to make the drive all the way home to SD. Got on the road at about 11am, after a long St. Pattys night.
Got it just after 1am PST, making it a nice 15 hour drive.
The truck handled the whole trip like a champ tho, and Arizona had some great views.

I've started a collection of the animal crossing signs I see on the road... After seeing signs for big Horn, cows, horses, etc... My favorite has to be the donkey crossing signs from AZ. Unfortunately, this was the best pic I got.

At a tick under 2000 miles, and 8 days on the road, I had an amazing trip and really grew my connection with my truck. Love this thing.

I have a broken bolt that I also broke an Easy-out in trying to back it out that I need to get out on my steering knuckle.

The guy said the windshield is about $200 installed, which is less than taking the door panel off, the plastic barrier off, dissemble the slider, put new tempered glass in slider. Install and align everything slider,and put door back together.
Of course if it was tinted it would made a difference. He said windshields are always in stock even in small towns, not sure about side tempered glass.
Just going by I was told.

When you first posted about breaking the "front" glass I never ever thought you meant the windshield, I just assumed you meant the driver's or passenger's door glass!!!

FYI, if the windshield is the cheapest glass to replace at $200 +/-, I wouldn't break any glass, a locksmith will cost you less than half that to come and unlock the door,
I paid what I thought was an outrageous sum of $80 for a moble Locksmith to unlock my door (took him all of 5 seconds with the proper lockout tool)
after I got out to close my property gate and the door closed and somehow the door locked with my 4R running and of course the keys inside, I went back in my house
and got a coat hanger but after trying for 45 minutes and coming close numerous times to getting it unlocked in the end
I gave up because the wire hanger just wasn't strong enough to work and I called the locksmith,
the worst part was I had my keyfob in my pocket and even though I had just use it to unlock the 4R it wouldn't unlock it now,
friggin battery was dead:doh:, now tell me what are the odds of all this happening at the same time!!!!!

As soon as I got it unlock even though I was 1 1/2 hours late for work I went and bought 2 new batteries and now keep one in my wallet!!

New drivers door window- ~$60
Installing it yourself- 30-60 minutes if you've never done it before
New tint- last time I did just the drivers window in my car it was only $30 to have it done
You'll probably spend more time cleaning up the glass than you will putting the new one in.

I still have to do mine, I after reading all the reviews at Comsumer Reports and all other auto publications I could find decide to go with the Sylvania headlight restoration kit, it was the highest rated one and lasts the longest of all the kits before having to do it again!

I looked high and low for this kit locally and had trouble finding one, that was until I found out they don't stock it with all the other kits, it's with/on the display for the Sylvania bulbs.

What Dremel bit did you use?

Three different sized ball end diamond burrs. Small one to get a divet in the ez out then work up in size. It doesn't grind it out quickly, it's a long time of slowly pulverizing the hardened bit. Let the burr do the work.

And breaking a window for a lockout?! I have AMA membership that includes free tows (first 35 miles) and free lockout service. Buddy locked his keys in his car when we were out dirtbiking, gave them coordinates and 45 mins later tow company shows up with the right tools and gets it open under 5 minutes no damage, free! Well membership is $50/yr but it's paid for itself over and over again every year.

These are chinese copies of the OEM Toyota lights, which are actually rear bumper lights for the Landcruiser Prado 120. I bought them from a eBay seller based in Latvia, viesturs_autoparts...pardon my french but that guy can go F himself. You can currently find them for less from a China-based seller for under $45 shipped. The Flosser brand sockets cost me $9.99 from eBay, they cost more than the other generic sockets but these are the closest in design to the OEM sockets. Bulb-wise I'm going to use Philips LEDs, tried some JDM Astar bulbs but they just didn't have the intensity of the Philips, which are also about half the price and can easily find at Pep Boys.

If you want to go with the OEM route you're looking at around $60 per housing with the proper bulb socket (single filament 7440), I have the part #s written somewhere if you're interested. You will still need to wire it to your truck, I'll be tapping power from the trailer harness plus a switched relay so I can activate the "bright" circuit without actually hitting the brakes to warn any pesky tailgaters.

Polished up my headlights today. I used a Festool Rotex RO90 with a variety of lake country foam pads, Meguiars M105 Ultra Cut, Menzerna 4500 (now called Super Finish Plus 3800), and topped it off with Blackfire Wet Diamond that will hopefully help to seal it up and keep them nicer longer. This process took about 10min per side.
