What did you do with your 4runner today?

Today I replaced my spark plugs (V8) and managed to strip the #5 coil retainer bolt... right behind the brake cylinder. Grr.

Not sure what to try next.

Happily basking in the glory of a new head unit and controller.

Sounds great with the stock speakers. The Crux interface works easily with the steering wheel controls. Original AUX works, new AUX works and it reads USB sticks and drives perfectly. Cell integration is pretty good too.

Details on the HU, as I have been wanting bluetooth for a while now.

finally got around to mounting axe and shovel. A local 4runner brethren fabbed up the mounts for my rola roof rack for $40 bucks. Cant beat that.

The clear coat on my wheels started peeling on the driver side only, which is kind of odd. So I decided I was going to paint them Satin Black. Removing the clear coat and the silver paint in-between the spokes was a PITA.

The color match grill would look great.



You should wet sand the headlights, then spray them with clear coat that has UV protection. I did mine several months ago and they still look fine.

Yeah, I've read about going that route and may try it...but I kinda think the smoked chrome housings from a sport would look sweet with the dark blue so I'm not sure what I'll do

finally got around and threw some sea foam in the vacuum line, and oil...took it for a nice long smokey cruise.... did rear rotors and pads to fix the pulsating...changed spark plugs.. cleaned MAF and Throttle body...mobil 1 synthetic oil change...greased up zerks on drive shaft...

but still have a shaky idle...hmmm :ybrick::ybrick:

One of the hinges on the compartment door is broken and it will not stay shut. This causes it to rattle quite a bit. You probably don't want it. It was driving me crazy. That is why I swapped it out.

Did my first hand wash of spring (it's in the 70's here today). Nice to finally get off that "film" that the auto spray booth never gets over the winter.

Finally replaced my sticky/gummy tailgate button on my 08. I ordered the part from Amazon and used the thread link below for the install. It took about 20min and man what a difference! Having trim removal tools definitely helps with removing the inner tailgate cover. The new button works effortlessly and its smooth to the touch.

Pinstripe Removal

Went to remove my stock pinstripes on my 04 T4R V8 SR5 today and started picking with my thumbnail and I got a little carried away. I used turtle wax sticker and adhesive removal and 3M stripe off wheel. I have completely removed the stripes and I'm guessing the pinstripes have been burned into the paint so now that I have all of the adhesive removed my pinstripes went from silver stickers to black adhesive burn in my paint. Is the only way to fix this with a paint job?

It's not burned in. Try using 91% isopropyl alcohol and if that doesn't work, use acetone/nail polish removal. It WILL come off.

I would hit it with a heat gun before acetone. you could ruin your paint if you are not careful.

You could always buff it out with some rubbing compound. something like Meguires DA kit will do the trick.
