What did you do with your 4runner today?

excuse my ignorance but, do you just leave it on there when you open the hatch? Isn't that a pain while camping? We're in and out of the back hatch or leaving it open a lot so I've always wondered about how that would work on a 4runner.

Yes my plan is to just leave it on there when camping. I havent use it yet i just wanted it to put the trash and carry the camp fire wood. Maybe something else if it pops into mind. I usually leave the rear hatch open as well. Until i have the bed setup inside. Couldn't justify getting a rear bumper setup with tire carrier i dont need it.

I tried quoting the person asking how i mounted it. And putting a picture up but it keep saying i dont have enough characters. I had to take off the clips an order to fish the strap threw the pivot opening of the hatch if that makes any sense lol. I might an up getting right line car clips. To make it easier to mount.

Today I did LED bulb replacement for my interior and license plate lights.

Which came with more than what my SR5 needed.

After doing both front map lights, both vanity lights, each bulb in the 2nd row dome light and cargo area dome light, the 2 license plate bulbs, and the light in each door's pocket, I am left with 4 wedge style bulbs and one of the larger, dome light style festoon bulbs. I assume that 2 are for the "puddle" lights that are on some models, one is for the glove box (that I missed) and one is extra.

I also received my SAIP bypass kit from slyfox, but between the rain and misplacing my wire strippers, that's been postponed until tomorrow.

SAIP bypass you don't need wirestrippers. Seemed better to me on the second install to use a razor blade on the tiny MAF wires. Take a blade out of a razor knife or use a singleside razor blade, make a shallow cut and use your fingernails to strip the insulation.

Yeah, probably not. but it's so nice to have the right tool for the job, you know? It'll be installed tomorrow, strippers or not.

Rock sliders

I just placed my order for the steel to build my new sliders. I will pick up the steel on Tuesday, then, let the fabrication begin. Woot woot

Got my heads back from the machine shop. They were straight! :rockon:

All cleaned up and ready to be installed. Look how purty they are!!

On a side note: I've been driving a loaner car from a friend, a BMW 330. While I am really appreciative of the loan, I really miss my 4Runner. Sucks not being able to see what's coming up down the road and in the traffic around here I really miss the auto trans.

Nice! I have a friend who had a turbo KA S13 vert that was pretty fun. He ended up going with a 1J once he got a good engineering job and had cash to throw at it, but the KA did alright

new drivers sun visor, rear diff. vent, new dash console light, new all weather floor mats (inexpensive, only $28/set of 4). figured out and repaired an issue with the front overhead light (not the map lights). cleaned 10 years of baked on brake dust from the alloy rims.

oh, also diagnosed a broken hood latch spring which would not allow the hood to latch tight (scary driving around with only the safety latch working).

oh, also had the dealer re-lube the front and rear drive shafts ($10) while the tires were being rotated. clunking noise during starts seems to have disappeared.

finally, replaced really dirty engine air filter and cabin filter.

Canvasback rear cargo cover installed. Febreezed the carpets/headliner, the interior smelled like differential lube after a month in the garage doing this and that. Leather cleaned and conditioned with Lexol, 303 on the plastic. PO did a great job on this '08 keeping the leather pristine, I'll do the same.

My girlfriend got me a rola rack for my birthday, so I decided to throw it on this afternoon. I'll probably get some of the low profile mounts for it here soon, but I knew going ahead and putting it on would make her happy. I'm a fan of it, especially once it's a little lower [emoji1360]

I put on my jaos satoshi grill. I plastidipped it black but I think I'm going to color match it instead. The grill was expensive but the mesh is easily swappable which I like and it looks a lot more professionally done if I had done it myself.

Rerouted exhaust out the side, mainly to keep hot exhaust off bike rack/wheels but think it looks better too. No difference in sound so not sure what the resonator was doing. Used "tight fit" elbow from Jegs and just reused stock tip that was on the resonator. $25 and hour's worth of work.
