Got out to Wynoochee today with the family.

Ordered my new tires, Cooper Discoverer S/T MAXX in 255/80 17. Amazon had a good deal at 163 a tire with free shipping. Score! Also got all my lift parts finally. Wheelers Offroad is a great place to get parts, probably saved a good 200 bucks with them. Bili 5100 with Toytec/Eibach HD front springs and OME 2895 medium for the rear. Also bought some JBA upper control arms to go with. Should be a busy week ahead, lol.

I don't know about you guys but I hate looking in my wheel wells and see it all ragged out and gross. My engine splash guard have just deteriorated. I can't keep them clean from wheeling trips and daily use either. I look at T4R for some ideas and found Rad rubber designs. I figured for $50 bucks it was worth a shot. I'm very impressed at how well they are made. Super beefy and cut perfect for my 06 v8. Came with everything I need to install them. Didn't take long at all. I also paint the wheel wells real quick before installing. Took some picture of the before,during, and after.

What did you end up spraying inside the fender wells as a protectant?

Received my Blackstone Labs report on my transmission fluid. I had no symptoms of anything going wrong -- I was just curious what might show up in the analysis considering it's a "high" mileage 4Runner. Previous owner did full flushes at 118,441 miles and 217,683 miles. This sample came from a simple drain and fill at 292,830 miles.

I'm not sure what my takeaway is from their commentary. Not great, but could be worse? I will likely just do drain and fills from here on every 40-50K miles and send samples off for continued analysis. Of course, doing drain and fills means older fluid will always be a larger portion of the makeup. Maybe I'll do even shorter intervals.

Note: even though this is a 4th gen, it's an '03, so the transmission is the old A340 4 speed found in the 3rd gens (dipstick, yay). It requires Type T-IV fluid, not WS.

After replacing my tailgate motor, I decided to fix up the headlights. I used the full 3M kit a few years ago but with no new UV coating, they yellowed up again. I used the 3M applicator and the Turtle Wax kit this time, including the 2 step UV sealant wipes. Fingers crossed that it lasts longer this time.

Amazing what a difference this makes to the looks of my truck. I see gross, yellowed lights in so many car classifieds, if people would just take the 30 minutes to polish them up it would make such a difference.

Got my 4runner back today from the body shop after getting rear ended 2 weeks ago in a low speed accident. Took advantage of the $600 the insurance was giving me and took it to a family friends body shop and they hooked me up with painting the back bumper, fender flairs and installing the 3in leveling kit. Feels like a brand new vehicle!

Yeah I took the chance after they told me they'd do it and include it in the cost that the other drivers insurance was paying. Pretty happy with the result and it think it gives it a whole new look. Just need some new tires and rims and it'll be looking right!

I used to be a detailing addict in my previous life and this still bugs me. I always bust out the buffer + polish and top off with Jet Seal on any car I work on as a bonus.

My car had glass headlights, which were great. On the 4 Runner I try to keep the lights polished up, but they always seem to fade within a few weeks :/ Need to invest in the good stuff, I suppose.

I will say, I've given up on buffing the 4 Runner's paint lol. I'll wash/wax it, but it's just not worth it to polish when it's just gonna get more pinstripes next time I take it offroad.

Painted, bolted, welded, and repainted the metaltech opor rear lower link skids tonight. My stock mounts were a little haggard and alotta not straight from my last trip to rocky class 6 roads in NH. I should have done these before for how cheap they are. Anyone who wheels their 4runner (or fj or gx) should look into a set of these. There's a few vendors out there with different designs to suit your preferences.
