What did you do with your 4runner today?

Nick, the lights might be coming on because the ECU is sensing a brake light on while you are driving/hitting the gas pedal. I don't know if it's the same on Toyotas, but the Polaris Rangers, Hondas, etc I work on will throw codes if they sense someone hitting the brake and gas at the same time or if there is an issue with the brake light circuit. It usually isn't an issue when there is a throttle cable, but since these are "drive by wire" it might be causing it.:noidea:

Thats what I have been reading, and since it is a "brake issue" moreso lack of parking brake and its just a giant computer/circuit I have read that it basically will start just triggering more dash lights believing there is a large problem, but really I'm thinking its the parking brake. Will most likely just take it to the mechanic hopefully by the end of the week.

Glad I could help. My dealer had no problem finding it in the system and had it for me the next day. I think it was $3.

Replaced my spark plugs. This video and this socket were very helpful.

I did the toughest one first, driver's side by the firewall. Came out fine, no problem. Got a scare on the one next to it; it took some real effort to get started out and then made a lot of ominous squeals and loud, high-pitched squeaks as it came out. I thought for sure it had been cross-threaded by whoever replaced it 63K miles ago (yeah, rookie mistake, I whiffed on the interval). But the replacement went in fine and the other 4 were the same way. Each was really tough to get started out, made the same noises, and the replacements were easy to start and screw in by hand until they seated.

When I compared the plugs, the first (silent) one clearly had something on the threads (far left in pic). Appears to be oil and is on the threads only though I've checked and my truck was manufactured after the head gasket issues. Thoughts?

Also, I removed the air intake completely and this electrical plug is under the wire bundle. (For bearings, this is on top of the passenger side front wheel well). It wasn't plugged into anything and I didn't see anywhere it should plug in, so it must be something my truck doesn't have. Still, I'm curious. Anyone know what it is?

I received my new control arm from 1A auto. Shipping only took 2 days and this thing is beefy. OEM would be close to $300. This cost $75 shipped. I'm quite impressed with the quality and fast shipping of this control arm. I hope this will last quite a while, otherwise I'll be rebuilding my OEM arm. I will be installing this with an SPC bolt kit.

new HVAC and Display bulb replacement

Replaced all the bulbs behind the HVAC, and display. Used all the OEM replacements.

Well started out with just the upper pulleys and belt. Then, decided to do the spark plugs 1k miles early for the first time on the 4Runner. Glad I did they were a little stiff. Correctly installed new ones with some anti seize grease. Wipers as well. Everything good to go until next little project.
