What did you do with your 4runner today?

Check out all the used tire shops in San Diego they are bound to have something you need for the spare tire

I called a couple. Most are not willing to sell used tires for liability reasons. I also want something close to the other four tires in case I actually have to use it. Knowing me, I'll probably just go buy a new Ridge Grappler and be done with it. :crazy:

Removed the double decker storage today. Been a year since I purchased the truck and never used it.

Drive down near market street/ or the chill vista area, they have a ton of used tire shops that will sell you a tire. I was been lucky and was a able to snag a few match size and tread spares for a few of my rigs through the years. If you do get a new spare you can always do that 5th wheel rotation

I got the CBI antenna mount I think on Thurs, mounted it today, I will say, this thing is SOLID, but Im waiting on some coax to arrive on Monday so we will see if Im not to tired to run the coax lol.

Was a good day. Did the basic oil n filter change and installed a Fumoto valve so future changes should be quicker n easier. Also added a couple extra washers to my skid plates to stop some rattling-seems to have worked (at least for now). :rockon:

Also got my AJT Design group buy items. The shift nob’s gotta be worth +5HP at least :biggrin1:

Hopefully this will help level out my steep tie rod angle. Since they are so steep, my alignment is out of wack because the rods take too much impact from my lift. Maybe I need to level the back out more? I just added 3" coil spacers in the front, that really made the rods change.

If you can't get your alignment back in spec and want to keep the same lift amount, you will need aftermarket UCAs or better yet, SPC UCAs or billet ones with heims that allow for a larger range of adjustments. (Or LCAs with heim mounts) Lift spindles do not change the steering geometry they just drop where the wheel mounts to from what I can tell.

EDIT: are you thinking you need longer tie rods then? First I have heard about that issue, I would have guessed they should offer enough length in stock configuration.

Greased my zerks AGAIN trying to get rid of the thunk.
I read another post that created an epiphany for me. The fact that you need to fill the slip yoke zerks until you see the slip yoke MOVE. I was being a pansy about it before pumping a few pumps in there thinking it was enough. This time it was 10-15 pumps (I didnt really count, but it seemed like that many) on both the front and rear slip yoke before it started to expand. Then I pumped about 5 more in there.

Now I feel like there was some progress seeing the shaft move on the last five pumps. I ran out of time and everyone (including me) will be in suspense on the results... so I will drive it tomorrow and report back. But I feel really optimistic this time!

Bled my brakes, did an oil change, stole the headunit out of my WRX and threw it into my T4R while wiring up the PAC unit, and rotated my tires. :banana:

Bought more tools to replace my front suspension and swap my cv axles but I broke my hand in a hockey game last week (don't take a slap shot to your hand folks) so I haven't been able to do the work yet. It won't be easy with 2 fully functioning hands, so I decided against trying with 1. I'll wait until it's healed, likely a month or two.

Also picked up a buffer and some pads so it should be looking real nice shortly.

Do you mind going into more detail around adding the washers to your skid plates?

I notice a metallic rattle when I am accelerating at lower speeds which I assume are my skid plates. Was planning on sliding under the truck to tighten them all up but may as well do your washer trick when I am under there and put it to rest.

I never feel like a new to me vehicle is mine until I’ve cut a couple of things off of it, and regretted at least one of those cuts.

This is the regret. Cut too far on one of the mud flaps. Fixed with epoxy and it’s mostly good now.
