What did you do with your 4runner today?

Greased my zerks AGAIN trying to get rid of the thunk.
I read another post that created an epiphany for me. The fact that you need to fill the slip yoke zerks until you see the slip yoke MOVE. I was being a pansy about it before pumping a few pumps in there thinking it was enough. This time it was 10-15 pumps (I didnt really count, but it seemed like that many) on both the front and rear slip yoke before it started to expand. Then I pumped about 5 more in there.

Now I feel like there was some progress seeing the shaft move on the last five pumps. I ran out of time and everyone (including me) will be in suspense on the results... so I will drive it tomorrow and report back. :-) But I feel really optimistic this time!

MY THUNK IS GONE.... WOW.
If you have the thunk - grease your slip yoke zerk(s) until you see the silver part of the shaft move so you know its full... then pump a few more times. (no comments from the gutter brains, please )
Everything is smooth now.... I hope this lasts!!! On a side note, I think my brake pedal feels slightly less squishy and just a little tighter now also. I dont understand that one.

Leather clean/condition with Lexol. 303 bath on anything rubber or plastic, door seals included, also under the hood and CV boots. Anything rubber it gets a 303 bath.

Got my Bilstein 5100s and Moog FJ springs installed on the front. I was also replacing a bent steering knuckle, that was supposedly a good used part. So second time replacing it, I bit the bullet and got the stupidly expensive new steering knuckle. I set the 5100s at the second from top position. Now I have some of that goofy reverse rake until I get the back done. It will also be 5100s and Moog FJ springs, with a one inch spacer. My hope is that will get things about level, or with a very slight forward rake. Even in its current state it's driving a lot better than it was, and I haven't even got it in for an alignment yet.

Do you mind going into more detail around adding the washers to your skid plates?

I notice a metallic rattle when I am accelerating at lower speeds which I assume are my skid plates. Was planning on sliding under the truck to tighten them all up but may as well do your washer trick when I am under there and put it to rest.

Sure... It took me forever to figure out what was rattling - I knew my skids were not loose... When I pulled my skids off to wash mud off / out of them, I noticed a couple wear points on the inside of them ... matched them up to some corresponding wear points on the exhaust system and front diff and figured thats what was causing the rattling. I called RCI and they recommended adding a few washers between the frame and skids to give a couple extra mm of clearance. So I added a couple washers per bolt to the front skid and t-case skid and like I said, it seems to have worked - but time will tell. Hope it helps.

Mounted my Plano Case and mocked up the Tred recovery boards. Waiting on my new set of VTX Outlaws to be delivered then those are next.

Nice looking set up.

How'd you mount the plano case?

I've got the same prinsu rack and am always interested in how folks mount up stuff on it.

Did the HCF delete and bypassed my TPMS because I was tired of staring at the flashing light and a $5 package of ez splices is more appealing than a $250 new sensor

Explored Union Spring road near Flagpole Knob in VA. Hadn't been up it before and the 4th gen impressed the hell out of me! Had zero-little experience on rocks before and followed aykalper in his 3rd gen through em! Some pics of the trip (all taken by him)

What kind and size tires are you running? Truck looks great!

Thanks man. She's on Centerline wheels with 285/70 17 Cooper St Maxx. These tires are the bees knees! As of know I haven't had any issues with them when I've needed them. They'll get plenty weird and give you a ton of grip when you need it.

Failed attempt to use this to fix the bolts the dealer in PA broke when they took in the trade.

Also got these in from a tacoworld member. Will install them on my weathertech mats whenever I get them in.

wash the area with some IPA. and see if the hazing comes back. you don't want fillers to make you think the job is done

For me: I changed both my rear brake lights, one of the lights was out. Took about 10 minutes.

You were absolutely right, as 14 months later and the hazing has returned.

I'm going to attempt to restore them again except this time I'll use a kit that has a sealant or lamanix

Oil change time! I usually don’t bother with synthetic in the 4Runner but I can’t pass up that price. $5 more expensive than cheap dino, $5 cheaper than Mobil 1. I already have a Toyota filter.

5w40? and it says Heavy Duty Diesel oil?

Obviously I am asking cause maybe there is something I dont know but it seems like all the wrong product... the oil cap under my 4r hood says 5w30 and its not a diesel either... .
Come to think about it, last time I even heard of something called Rotella it was on my nachos....

Today I haven't done anything yet. But, I just recently purchased a 2008 SR5 and am slowly moving along with mods. First things first I need a subwoofer. (I like my music) Ordered a 12 inch Rockford P3D2 today along with a QBOMB Single 12 dual triangle port box, a Rockford 750w amp, and a Sky High audio wiring. I will be installing these this weekend. :D

I searched the forum for this exact oil and found multiple threads that said it was quite good for our 4.0's.

A 5W is a 5W. A 30 oil is thinner than a 40 oil at 100°C. I'd be stunned if there is any functional difference between the 30 and 40 in regular applications.

Being a diesel approved oil means it has more detergents but otherwise I'm not sure there's any difference.

Today I got mine out of the shop lighter by $1,683.46 which included the front brakes and calipers but I again got PO171 and PO174, I've replaced the air filter, MAF, they had smoke tests which showed it needed the PCV & it's hose, intake manifold gasket set, fuel injector O-ring and fuel injector cushion ring-lower which were all changed and still getting PO171 & PO174. Also the fuel pressure was good.

The only thing I can guess is the O2 sensors?

2005 V-8 4.7 4Runner SR5 2WD 157,000 miles.

Any ideas?
