What did you do with your 4runner today?

"Finished" my TPMS Bypass today.

Finished in quotes because I'm not fully sold on the location I chose for the switch. might move it into the glovebox to be as discrete as possible.

Fun fact: the TPMS bypass does not affect the ability of my scangauge to read Tire pressure readings through OBDII. maybe it sees last known values, but it at least gives the illusion of still providing readings.

Also detailed the engine bay today, that Chemical Guys' VRP plastic restorer stuff is pretty fantastic. sprayed the battery hold-down to cover up the rust there while I had the battery out.

Besides finding a permanent home for my TPMS switch, I think the next thing I want to do besides regular maintenance is get new wheels and tires. I've put it off too long.

-Metal Tech bump stop drop
-ReszFab upper links with Duroflex joints (choose these over Metal Tech because of the offset, so it does not hit the gas tank. Great links, but super shitty customer service and communication. Growing pains of a small business)

Got most of my stuff through Josh at Axex Overland. Super great guy to deal with. Highly recommend him.

The 4Runner sits a lot now though. Gets such shitty gas milage and is such a tank. I got an Outback with a blown motor. Rebuilt it and use it as the DD. Keep the 4Runner wear and tear down :rofl:

Breaking her in by towing the 96 3+ hours away from home and back. It did great pulling minus where it got pretty hilly and I was trying to maintain 65+. And yes, overdrive stayed off.

I changed the oil and filter (Thanks fumoto valve), changed the cabin filter, deep cleaned the interior, washed it, waxed it, buffed it.

I love my dog but I don't even want him to come near it for at least a week. Let me enjoy my clean vehicle.

Finally seeing some beach weather here in WA.

Stared at the moisture in my brand new retrofitted headlight. I feel hopeless as I just got them installed and nothing was cheap just to have Moisture!

Also replaced my driver side fog light bulb.

Did you purchase retrofitted headlights, or do the retrofit yourself?

Diligence when replacing the butyl rubber is key. It was tedious, but I scraped almost all of the original butyl out before neatly placing in new retro rubber from The Retrofit Source.

Did you utilize the same screws when putting the headlights back together, and were you sure there was a bit of butyl in the screw holes?

I also bought some larger dust caps to accommodate the igniters on the back of the bulbs. A little more reassuring knowing it's even more difficult for moisture to find it's way into there.

I totally agree. When I switch to the SPC UCA's from stock, it made a huge difference in handling and eliminated the dreaded clunk under full compression. Win win.

I commented about your all-of-the-caster on instagram! Be sure to take the alignment instructions to the shop with you cause most techs won't touch the upper ball joints so you need to show them how to do it, or get an alignment check, adjust upper ball joint position yourself then take it back.

Also do yourself a favor and put little rubber vacuum caps over the grease zerks to keep them clean.
