What did you do with your 4runner today?

I replaced all the interior bulbs to LEDs. I also changed the rear license plate lights and running boards to LEDs.

I did the same to my girlfriend's Matrix.

I did that today also along with a couple other things.

can anyone tell me if Im doing something wrong trying to upload pictures? I click "insert image" and paste the link but the post just comes up empty? i tried to resize down to less than a MB. using imgur

When pasting the image link, first highlight all of the auto-populated text in the image box (the “http://“ or whatever) and then paste the link so it replaces the auto-populated text. If you just paste, it inserts the image link in the middle of the auto-populated text and won’t work properly.

the auto populated text is already highligted when the box pops up. I have tried pasting over it (which removes it because it is highlighted) and deleting first and the pasting the link. If I go to advanced I can upload the file from my PC so that works. its a little easier anyway

I needed tires, so I got these 5th gen wheels/tires from my local dealer from the sales manager. You know how they have lifted trucks in the showroom? Well, I walked into the sales office and asked the manager if I could buy the factory wheels and tires from one of those tricked out trucks. He had a few sets "in the back", even had the shop swap my TPMS sensors in. But I saved a good chunk of change. I paid way less than what the tires would have cost me at a shop. And I kinda think i like how they look.

They do come with the TRD Off Road and I wouldn’t call them TRD wheels. Those wheels also came with the SR5 as far back as 2015. My local dealership has them on most of the 2018 and 2019 models. ( except for the limited and Pro) Toyota likes to used parts that they have on hand. A good example is the new Pro roof rack which is the same as the FJ cruiser.

On early 5th gens these were the Trail Edition wheels. Then they became the TRD Off-Road wheels. They are also available as a port option which may be why you see them on many trucks at your local dealer.

Either calling them "Trails" or "TRDO's" would be acceptable.

There's more to the TRD stuff than just the TRD BRO wheels.

My 4th gen accomplishments today included:
- New windshield
- Front window tint
- Finishing up my LED light replacement. Got some decent 194's that would fit housings so I did the doors and license plate light.

I also ended up scoring a set of SR5 wheels for a song from a co-worker who put a set of TRD Pros on his new 5th gen. Instead of cleaning up my clapped out Sport Edition wheels I'll just swap over to these.

Wait, you said you're using Imgur, right? If you're posting from a device, make sure the link you're getting ends in .jpg, .png, etc. It makes no sense but this is how it works from devices:

If you choose Share at the bottom right of this view and click Copy Link...

The link copied is incomplete and won't work.

You have to tap the image again so you end up here:

And use the share option at the bottom then Copy Link to get a full link that works in the image box.

The links are different aside from the file extension and I have no idea why it works that way but it does.

Im posting from PC. I did some more digging going off what you said and on imgur there is a dropdown arrow and from there you can get different share links. I just had to go there and get the BB code for forums. Thanks for the help.

Installed a smoker's kit with a USB QC option and battery charge readout. Swapped out the multi information display/HVAC control system for a working eBay system.

Is it feasible to swap the guts of one Multi information display/HVAC control board for another? Mine is in much better condition on the outside then one I got off eBay.

1. Swapped out my old crusty headlights with some DT Moto from ebay. Seems to be decent quality so far, hoping they hold up well. Will attach some pictures of before and after. The pictures are not the best because I was inside a garage. It was raining.

2. replace all interior bulbs with LED

3. Popped the arm from my recirc actuator back into the recirc door. this was a pain in the ass and even shed a little blood squeezing my hand into that tight area

4. cut the cable to the winch to remove my spare tire. The winch is pretty rusted and the hole is rounded out. Now i gotta get a little crative to get the bolts out to remove the winch. Thank Toyota for putting them in from the top down :tsk::tsk:

also was going to replace the rear wiper arm, but guess what, that bolt was rusted too.

that was enough for the day

Well, he told me $650. Which I feel was a pretty decent price. But when we went to the back to see what they had. There were at least 7 or 8 sets just sitting back there. Some Tacoma, some 4Runner. So I told him I'd give him $400, otherwise they can just sit there some more. He countered $450 and it was a deal.

BTW: I was in the car business for 15 years. So I kinda knew what I could get away with. That's also how I knew to go into the sales managers office. I just walked right in, he was kinda surprised, not all that often some random person just walks right into the sales manager's office.

I had the same issue when I tried to replace my broken rear wiper. I didn’t have a wiper puller at the time, so I ended up having to use a Dremel with a cutoff wheel to cut through the bushing so I could split it off the shaft! It was so rusted there was no other way it was coming off (without the correct puller). They sell the pullers on Amazon, so if you have the time to order one, it will make life a lot easier for that job!

I like that USB port. Is the readout in the cover as it appears? Is it a single port under the cover, or dual?

Stoppin on a dime!

Got the whole new brake system installed last night. Centric Rotors, Hawk LTS Pads, Powerstop Calipers, and stainless lines all around. I replaced everything front and back. Definitely notice a massive difference. Brake fluid was black...pretty sure the previous owner never serviced the brakes. Now it's got fresh Pentosin Super DOT4 running through it.

Didn't get the chance to bed them last night, due to all the foot traffic from Coachella. Lots of vacation rentals here in my neighborhood...can't say I mind the festival girls though!! So early this morning I zipped around the neighborhood doing a sequence of moderate then hard stops as per Hawks instructions. Fresh brakes smell delicious when heated!
