They don't make it easy at the dealerships. Some are better than others of course. These are old trucks now.
Same here, duplicated key with chip from my local True Value for around the price you mentioned. Also a standard all metal key with no chip for maybe $5. Cheap insurance. I assume they would cut a key that I brought in the blank for but just a guess.

Its a GGM OEM grill from Toyota. Color code 1E9. It might be the light in the picture but it matches perfectly, which is what you'd expect from an OEM piece.

New CV Axles and front knuckle seals. I had two new side seals for the front differential but after getting the CV Axles out and inspecting the seals they did not need replacing.
Also put a new serpentine belt on. Boy was that a fun experience on the front of the 1GR.

Pickup from repair!
Today I picked up my 4Runner from the shop.
New owner of a 91' V6 after purchasing it took it to the mechanic and learned we had to get new tie rods, brakes all around, and spark plug wires (melted to EGR Pipe).
Looking to start learning how to repair my own 4Runner in the future to avoid these high California labor costs!

I ran power from the front - I have an aux fuse panel installed for other lighting as well. It's pretty easy to pull up the door step trim pieces and remove the lower rear quarter of the trim to get the wire through to the back.
Getting the wires into the tailgate was more of a challenge. I used the stock rubber covering for the factory wiring entering the tailgate. I ran a couple of 3 wire cables so I'd only have to do this once if I need more wires in the tailgate. The rubber harness protector (top left when tailgate is open) pops out of the tailgate and truck body and then you can run wires through it. You will probably have to cut away the electrical tape on the tailgate side to fit your wires in. If you remove the cargo hook inside on the top left then you can pull the headliner down just enough to route the wire through to the upper quarter panel. You also have to unbolt/unclip the upper quarter panel from the body to get the wire behind it. The hardest part was probably fishing down the side of the tailgate to get to the harness protector (go from the tailgate side up, if you fish down from the hole that the rubber harness protector connects to the wire will get jammed in the sheet metal. I used a piece of 14 ga solid ground conductor to fish through the tailgate. I can take a couple of pictures later to describe the locations if you'd like.

If you were closer I would give you a few bucks for them. My short wife has trouble climbing into my rig. They were removed from my truck before I got it, I assume because the mounts rotted. Couldn't hurt to put them out there just don't expect more than $50 for them. Think of it as helping another Runner owner.

Installed my hayden 679 transmission cooler. First one was cracked and defective out of the box. It was fun finding that out the hard way. Got a 2nd one and install was easy enough. I might play with the location to see if I can get better airflow. I relocated the horns to the passenger side so I could raise it up of I want to. I plan on getting a scanguage to monitor temps when I tow my boat.
