Hey guys 4Runner newbie here looking to pick up my first 4Runner. I am looking at a 99 sport 5 speed with electronic locking rear diff and 225k miles from the original owner. It has a couple dents and dings but overall it is decent shape. Right now the check engine light is on for p0446 so that will have to be addressed. Also I believe it is needing a timing belt and water pump soon. The owner is firm on the price of $2000. Do you guys think it is a decent deal or should I hold out for something else? Thanks guys

$2000!?!?!?!?! Wow. Up here that wouldn't last long what so ever.. Last month I talked to a guy who was trying to sell a 2WD for $6K!!! I don't know if he sold it for that, but I don't see it sitting out where he works anymore. If that was up here, I would buy it just because....

Only rust is on the trailer hitch. It has been a Texas truck almost all of its life. The owner didn't even know about the rear diff lock and clutch cancel button.
You better buy it, I'm browsing houston/spring Craigslist now haha

5 spd! 1999, V6? NO RUST?? Even if you needed to do what I did last year (engine swap), its still a great deal..... a friend of mine from work bought a classic 4R last month for $1200 with 500K km and a 22re in desperate need of a rebuild plus the body needs some work.... for my neck of the woods, even this was a good deal!!!!

Hey guys I just saw this, the OP is my little brother. He has been wanting a 4Runner for his first vehicle so we are picking up this 99 on Friday. He's not too keen on the idea of having a manual but we will see how he does. If he decides he wants an auto then I am just going to buy it from him. Here are some pictures of it.

Haha I already have! Regardless of whoever gets it it will get the TLC it deserves. I've been looking for craigslist like crazy for a set of 17" sequoia wheels but haven't had much luck.

Well guys here is the 4runner! It made the 150 mile trip with a problem and averaged 21.2 mpg on the way home. Not bad for a vehicle with 225k miles. Now the fun begins catching up on all of the maintenance and mods! :driving:
