im looking into getting the best deal for a 4runner right now.

so far:
2006 sport 4x4 grey with moon roof and spoiler. certified, clean exterior and interior with 68k, $21000 out the door tax and license.

2008 white sr5 4x4 57k certified sun roof, no spoiler clean exterior and interior asking $21700 out the door.

2008 4x4 blue 38k certified no sun roof has spoiler clean exterior and interior asking $23 out the door.

are any of these good deals at all?

Last one is pretty good. Are these v6 or V8? Definitely all overpriced by about 1500

As I said in the thread above yours, I got my 07 sport v8 new for 26k. That 06 for sure is a rip off.

IMHO, that dealer is BSing with you. I would not pay more than $14K (out the door) for the 2006 sport since i know there's a sport in east coast for $9K.
Also would not pay more than $16K for the 2008 white 4x4 w/ 57K. Whoever owned this must drove the crap out of it for 2 years.

Trade-in is under $14, and they paid $20994? Right. Either they're lying, or they won't be in business long. They'll tell you they have $XXX into it, that includes covering overhead costs, prepping it, touching up things they don't want you to see, and various hidden profits that keep the dealership going. Not that it's a bad price where you are, but don't believe them.

I agree, I think the dealer is BSing you about how much they paid for that truck. Probably got it for 14-15k at an auction tops.

I think i mentioned in another thread that I got a certified SR5 2006 with 27k on it for about 21k earlier this year and even then I think I paid too much (I don't really have many regrets though - it's got all the stuff I wanted (aside from electric seats, booo) and it's the color i wanted.

If you are tall then you don't want the sunroof (never used mine on the 3rd Gen anyway) - there is more room in the cabin without it.
Look for other stuff like steering wheel controls for the stereo (which I love - use 'em all the time).

Of the three I think the 2008 Blue one is the most attractive. The other too have too many miles on them for what they are charging.

If you absolutely need to get one of those trucks, then make sure you get a good deal on the warranty (check out other threads on the platinum warranty - I paid way too much for mine and wish I'd done the research first, BUT my truck has needed some pricey repairs, so it's paid for itself and then some).

All above posts are good advice. Only thing I can comment being that I'm not from your area so I'm not familiar on prices etc. is that a 65K Runner isn't even broken in yet.

Plenty of life left in any runner with that kind of mileage so wouldn't think twice about that part. Of course if you can get one for the same price with less then all the better. But if the price is right it's nothing to worry about.

This isnt directed at you specificly. But with all the different car forums I have been on, pricing on 4runners has got to be the most confusing thing I have seen. I dont think you are walking out of there for 7k less then book.

Book value [retail value] on an 06 is 21,775 dollars which does not include a 7 year 100k mile warranty.

Someone else said the trade in value of the truck is like 14k. Trade in in excellent condition is about 17k.

i dont know what the think.. i called at least 13 dealerships asking for used 4x4 4runners and even talked to two sales reps for like 20 minutes on the trade in process and customers buying back from them.
they buy certain model cars here back for 15k (do what ever they have to do) and sell it back out.

i asked another toyota company and asked how much they would sell a 2004 sr5 4x4 with 50k miles and they said at best 18500 so thats also roughly 20500 out the door too.

You're asking the wrong questions. Ask the dealer that you have an '04 SR5 4WD with 50K miles in excellent condition sitting at home, how much would you offer me (minimum without looking at it) if i traded it in?

I posted a link on your other thread from the dealer I got mine.

I believe is a 05 SR5 V6 Sport Edition 4x4 white...around 88k miles(a little high but is a 05) just one owner (good thing)for 17,900 I think. I am pretty sure they can work it around for you and bring it down a couple of thousands and better if you have a trade in and or some money to put on down. If you can make them bring it down to at least 15,500 I think thats a great deal.

I just bought a 2006 Ltd V8, loaded with 48k, immaculate, all service records, clean carfax, one owner from a Mercedes dealership in North Carolina for $22500. I've been searching the internet and locally for 4 weeks and viewed and test driven at least 15, T4R's. I am about as knowledgeable as I can get on these vehicles by reading this forum and challenging dealers on price and quality all over the US. This is a good deal but if you are prepared to buy one with higher mileage the price comes down and the dealers profit goes up. They are buying T4R's from the auctions with high mileage cheaply but people keep buying them because of the Toy reputation. A fleet T4R sold on ebay for $23800 with 55K on the clock last week, 2006 Ltd V8; $1300 more than mine and 7k more miles, also every man and his dog rode the crap out of it before it sold. I bought the best deal I could find in N. America and this Saturday I have to drive it over 1300 miles home. Can't wait! Happy hunting.

The link you posted has someone getting 17k on a trade in for an 06 sport edition with 70k miles on it.

No where does it say there is a 9k dollar 06 sport.

The person does say that a dealer offered him 9k which we all no is a joke of an offer so he just sold it to a friend.

Dont think you are getting a CPO 3 year old runner anywhere for 14k out the door.
