What do you torque your valve cover to?

I am replacing my valve cover gaskets and I notice how loose are the valve cover bolts were. Then I learned Toyota calls for 53inch/lb for the bolts. Is it just me or is that not enough to keep the oil from leaking. Anyone experience any problem by torquing above toyota's specs?

The Valve Cover isn't listed, and there is no discussion of torque recommendations.

My $.02 for the valve covers: I tightened my old leaky gaskets to 10nm to stop them from leaking (Toyota calls for 6nm) For a new gasket, go off of the factory specs. To stop a leaky old gasket, go a little higher.
