What else does 4Runner share with Landcruiser?

The engine is the same 4.7 with the sane rated horsepower and torque, but what about driveline? Tranny? Brakes? Cooling? AWD system?

Would you folks say that the 4th Runner is a Landcruiser Light--or just a smaller version of the tough rugged LC?--except for obvious things like size and ground clearance.

- Well, the powertrain is pretty much the same (engine, transmission). Well, for '05, the 4runner gets the improved V8, while TLC is stuck with the old one.
- Frame is different.
- Size of the brake discs are different, but the piston count is the same (i believe).
- TLC uses a torsion bar front suspension instead of coil springs.
- Underbody is cleaner on the TLC.
- Electronics are similar (ATRAC, BA), but 4runner also has the Torsen center diff, Hill Descent Control and HAC. TLC uses a more traditional gear-based center diff (50/50 split all the time, instead of the Torsen's flexibility).
- Axle ratio is different. TLC has 4.1 ratio.

Yeah, i would say that the 4runner is the baby-TLC...but because they are not twins (don't share platform), 4runner and TLC do have a few significant differences.
