2001 4runner with 2.5 suspension lift and stock tires (265/70R16). I also have a brush guard (black) and I want to put KC lights on it, any one know price ranges? As a college kid I'm asking for one thing: tires. Does anyone know if 285/75R16 will safely fit on the stock rim I have? And will it fit without rubbing? Pictures of something similar would be dandy. Also, is there a 2in body lift kit out there?

Why are you asking for price ranges? Google can answer that pretty easily man. Amazon should lead you to the best price on KC lights. Or look at the classifieds here for a used set.

285s may or may not rub the upper control arm on the stock wheels. It is likely that you will need new wheels or wheel spacers to clear the upper control arms. A safe backspacing on new wheels is 4.5".

You will have to trim to fit 285s at full bump and full lock, but they may not rub just driving on the street.

Yes there are 2" body lifts available. Check out 4Crawler or Toytec. But if you plan on sticking with the 285s then either trim more or go with a 1" body lift.

Also, I would suggest looking at a bunch of build threads to get an idea of what you like and what direction you want to go with the truck. :tea:

What can you do to exterior?

Is there a factory roof rack on it...cant tell from pics. If not get one. 3rd gens look naked without a rack.

Loose the cow catcher bumper. It reeks of 1992. Thats the one old guys run.

Clear corner lights look good... I see you ditched the running boards.

Sublte elegance always looks best on a 3rd gen. But seriously...the gorilla cage on the front needs to go.

bumper guards are ugly IMO. You can't find enough to do? I can't find enough not to do. and I'm also on a college kid salary so I've gotta set everything aside till graduation. If you're itching to spend money, you can buy sliders. and then buy me a pair while your at it :thumb:

i think grill guards look good. maybe replace the front driver side bumper flare. change the hood to one with a scoop.

I see good halogen driving lamps on ebay for nearly 1/3 of the price of KC or Hella. What is special about KC or hella lights over generic lamps?

Harbor freight sells square halogen lamps for $9.99 a pair! and round ones (more like a spot-beam) for $30.

The grill guard came with it when I bought it and I cant get the grill guard off because the nuts are stripped. :happens: I havent really used this forum until recently so I am still learning how to use it and such.

I do plan on gettin my friend, hes a mechanic, to take off the grill guard when I am back for winter break.

Will the body lift have any negative (or positive) effect on towing capacity?

Im thinking LEDs but dont know what kind to get and can i get clear corner lights from just looking around on craigslist or amazon?

It seems that 1 in body and spacers will help make the 285/75s fit, let me know if I am wrong.

Sorry for being so lost, all my friends have jeeps and I want to prove that T4Rs are way better....I can say at least they will get stuck in a mud hole and I dont.
