What grease do you use in your UCA's?

This time I added the Hotchkis grease that was recommended in this thread, will report back if it works any better than the Super Lube.

Curious how the Hotchkis grease is working out for you. Any feedback is appreciated.

Total Chaos UCA Squeak Totally Gone!

After over a year of awful squeaking, I finally read about the Total Chaos technique for greasing their UCA’s. I bought a 19mm extra long ratchet wrench and some Mobile synthetic grease (red) and did the work tonight.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have a torque wrench that would fit, so had to retighten it by hand feel. Shazam, squeak totally gone...heaven!

Can anyone share with me the tool they used to torque this pass through bolt? I would feel better if I can torque it to the spec’d 85 ft.lbs.

I used a box wrench on one end and a torque on the other. The only issue I had was the lack of space for the torque wrench to get a lot of movement so there was a lot of micro adjustments until the torque wrench engaged

I appreciate the input. I might need to look for a slimmer torque wrench as mine can't squeeze in.

Its the best autozone had.

I believe keeping them properly greased is more important than the grease itself. I went with a high temp grease because my uca bushings are right next to the engine bay, and i live in AZ.

Minimum of every oil change add some. Unless you go 10,000 miles (not recommended), then do it more often. 5000 miles is probably good enough.

Sorry for delayed reply, I have been offline. I couldn’t fit my torque wrench because it was too tight, so I tightened back up by had feel. Still no issues.

Not as big of a requirement since the mount at the LCA is very tight

We recommend a pump, maybe two and drive around for a bit to let the grease work it's way in

Tried adding grease to 2001 SR5 with Total Chaos UCAs. Previous owner installed them. Was able to turn wheels enough to reach the nut on the driver's side. Broke loose and then tried to connect grease gun to zerk. Rear zerk spins. Tightening it points it towards the engine bay so I cannot grease it. Front zerk was pointed correctly so I connected grease gun and it is frozen. Grease oozing out, not going in. Previous owner had purchased a box of new zerks so I pulled the old ones off. New front zerk bottoms out pointing towards engine bay. Rear zerk gets snug pointing towards engine bay. WTF!!! Try some different new zerks? Or pull tires and try to squeeze in there?

Another vote for red Mobil synthetic.
I have used it for almost everything for years.
It is rated for -40F up to 320F.
