What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas!

I've been there 6 times in the past 10 years.
Twice was for 311 day! which was mind blowing in itself!!
Many things have been said that I was going to say. Not to say the food on the strip isn't good, which some of it is but you have to leave the strip for some great food. I have a friend that lives out there and shows me most of the local places to eat. Every time I go, I make a point to go here for breakfast
For lunch and or Dinner <~~ this place was on DDD show on the travel channel for there Strombolis!

I did see the Cirque show Mystere a few years back which was a great show. We sat in the front row thinking that was the best seat in the house. It wasn't. I was looking up the whole time at the show. The theater is small, so if you sit in the back, it's still a good seat.

Red Rocks is great to visit, You can drive through the place and stop along the way. Hoover dam is cool to go tour also. The "good" part if the Grand Canyon is only a 4 hour trip from LV. L.A. is 5 hours drive.

I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff but there is so much to take in. I'm sure someone else will add their take on LV.

Oh I forgot to say, Try not to use the ATM machines at the casinos. I've seen surcharges range from 3.99-6.99. From my trips there and to Mexico City, I've learned to keep any money out of site. Don't flash it around. Carry it in your front pockets along with some ID. If you carry a purse, make sure its close to you.

definitely rent a lamborghini or ferrari while your there, its surprisingly affordable to rent. The parents went out there for one of there anniversaries and dad racked up a speeding ticket I'm not sure what the limit was but he was clocked at 178mph :car:

If you are adventurous and have time...you might want to check out Rachel, NV near Area 51...just a couple of hours north of Las Vegas.

Just don't cross those 'Use of Deadly Force Authorized' signs...

The wife and I go every year for her birthday and my buddies and I usually take an additional climbing trip to Red Rock Canyon. It's a fantastic place for hiking, climbing, or just an easy nature walk and following the loop. Definitely check out The Forum, and a Cirque show (I've seen most of them - "O" and "Ka" are at the top of my list). We like staying at the Bellagio and the Venetian. Close to everything, and the rooms are great. Also check out the Go Kart tracks

I know you're not going, but I just typed up this long reply before I noticed, so I'm posting it anyway .

I’ve been to Vegas many times. My buddies and I used to go for our annual Marine Corps. reunion (nothing elaborate; just 6 or 8 dudes using November 10th as an excuse to get stupid). No we just go whenever.

I’ve stayed at a few different places and always preferred the Hard Rock, mainly because their center bar is a fairly happening place and they play good rock/metal music. I am not a “club” person.

Nowadays, we still hang out at the bar in the HR, but stay across the street at the Wyndham (I think it is). Half the cost of any casino, but a nice “business”-type hotel (I discovered it several years ago when my agency had our armorer training there). There’s also a very cool little tiki bar-type place next door.

Don’t forget about the shows in Vegas - there are some very cool ones like Cirque du Soleil. Good comedy stuff, too.

I’ve seen Motley Crue twice in Vegas and, when he was playing at the HR, got to meet Morrissey.

I’ll echo what everyone else says about being safe. Don’t be one of those idiots staggering around with a foot-high mixed drink that’s 90% cheap alcohol, made specifically to get you hammered so you’ll spend more money.

Put a limit on your gambling before you go. Look at it as money that you will “spend” and not get back, don’t go over that amount, and you’ll be fine.

Oh, and there’s some GREAT food at the Irish restaurant/pub that’s inside NY NY. I forget what it’s called.

There...now have fun in SF. The Muir Woods National Monument tour is very cool if you're into nature-type stuff. I would skip Alcatraz - overrated and you have to stay in a huge group/can't walk around on your own. I thought it was a waste of time. Get some good seafood down by the water and watch the sea lions laying on the docks.

I would skip Alcatraz - overrated and you have to stay in a huge group/can't walk around on your own. I thought it was a waste of time. Get some good seafood down by the water and watch the sea lions laying on the docks.

Good to know about Alcatraz. Seafood down by the water is for sure. I love nature and animals... so I would love love love to see the sea lions!

Gosh, we have no idea yet now that we're starting all over in our search of things to do.
My girlfriend wants to got the Golden Gate bridge, but I have a terrible fear of water, especially the ocean. I can go about ankle deep but that's it. It's a little scary to be over it as well.
For sure a vineyard. Other than that I don't know what's all there. Never been. We're going to get together for dinner this week and start planning since we want to go in March.

I know! You'd think we'd make up our minds. She mentioned SF first and I said no since I thought my husband would want to venture there sometime in the near future. Come to find out he has no desire to go, which surprised me. My girlfriend was ecstatic when I told her and Vegas was off her list in a split.
For sure though, we'll go. She's always dragging me somewhere :wink2:

Definitely see the Golden Gate Bridge, it is pretty cool. You can probably have dinner at the Presidio and then walk over to the Golden Gate Bridge. You don't have to worry about going in the water as it will be freezing, lol. You'll probably want to go to Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39 which is always fun. My wife works in the city and takes BART there, and her stop is kinda near there. You can start at the Ferry Building then head over to Pier 39 which is a nice walk during the day with restaurants, shops, and great views for picture taking with the Bay Bridge in the background. If the weather is nice you can go hang out and relax at the park across the street from the Painted Ladies Houses. Those are the houses that are in the movies a lot in scenes.

If you want to go shopping then go to Union Square. For a vineyard you might want to go to Napa.

I agree with NorCal7, if you want to see some of the most beautiful vineyards and awesome wineries, def. take a little trip up the hill to Napa! =)

I lived in the Bay for many years. Finding things to do will be very easy. Be sure to go to Treasure Island at sunset. The best view of the city is from Treasure Island at sunset and the city lights view after dark will blow your mind also. Pier 39 is a must and you will likely go over and over again for the trinket shopping and seafood. Alcatraz is a definite also. There are tons of local craft brewery's. Take a quart or growler home for a friend, it will make the best gift ever. The aquarium is amazing too.
