7th: 90' Honda Civic Hatch w/DOHC ZC swap

8th: 93' Toyota Corolla DX (current daily driver)

9th: 06' Toyota 4Runner SR5 ( I absolutely LOVE this truck!)

I had a 1993 Ford Taurus GL station wagon. And let me take just a moment to reflect on what a horrible car it was.

I inherited it from my parents my junior year of high school. My parents put about 100k miles on it, everything from commuting to family vacations. The car was well kept, carefully driven, lived in the garage, etc.

Nonetheless, I think it got recalled three times. Things would break without explanation. Pieces would fall off the undercarriage. The air conditioner died. The dashboard lights died. The radio died. Need I go on?

But after I had it for a year, the transmission started to go. We were quoted about $2k for a new one. (note that the car was 11 years old and worth all of $1500 at this point). And so it went to the junkyard with all of 120k miles.

In retrospect, it was an old and used car and most of the breakage was expected. Except for infamously horrible Ford transmission. Just a couple weeks ago a friend of mine had to get his replaced on his '02 Explorer at 70k miles. For $3400! Ouch!

So I've been burned once by Ford; it'll be a long, long time before I even consider buying a Ford vehicle again, if ever.

My Wife bought a 92 Honda Wagon and we looked at the Ford Taurus Wagon. A friend bought a Taurus Wagon and we would get better mileage than the Honda when on the highway. But just like yours the transmission went out and was fixed. It was junked a long time ago, due to other problems. Our Honda is still going after 197,000 miles.

It would be interesting to see how many 92 or 93 Ford Taurus wagons are still on the road and how many 92 or 93 Honda Wagons are still on the road.
