What is my car capable of?

I recently got a new 4runner.
It is a 2007 V8 Limited but its only 2WD... I was just wondering how capable this car is going off-roading (mud, sand, rocks, etc.). And also if there is anything I could do to improve the off-road performance

its a 4runner its still pretty capable. the only way to know for sure is to take it out for a spin!

imo the best off road mod is tires. get a set of decent AT's and your set.

now if you really wanna get into things slap a posi-traction in and roll.

I learned a long time ago, it's often not the tool, but rather who is using it. Ask anyone who has taken a specialty/extreme driving course in any kind of vehicle. The instructors typically kick your butt and can make the vehicle perform way beyond whatever you thought possible.

Go out with a few others on the trail. Use a spotter. If you get in over your head, you'll have someone to pull you out. Seat time is probably more important than mods.

I see you're in Jacksonville. Come to Ocala National Forest with us sometime and you will get a really good idea of just how capable these trucks are, even in 2nd form. There is a thread on here from one of our last trail rides. Just type Ocala in the search box and take a look at the pics.

A well built rig won't help much if you don't have experience with it. :thumb3:
I first started wheeling with a 88 runner 3.0 automatic. Not a very capable vehicle for real off roading, but I learned a bunch about being off road.
